8. Please give a more detailed explanation of what you actually did in the
Collaboratory (e.g., how you used the technology and for what purpose).
to write a lab report and construct graphs
used the internet very little, we used the Collaboratory for the optimal group setting
while studying for finals
didn't fully utilize all of the technological capabilities
Wrote bioinformatics software, including web applications. Also wrote project
reports and Excel spreadsheets. Used the Internet to access webpage information
by browswer and remotely access data.
We used the Collaboratory as a place that the entire group could meet in a quite
location. Having a computer with a very large monitor made it much easier for the
entire group to work on our presentations (PowerPoint).
Used the space and big screen computer (20'?) to brainstorm and type our group
paper.
Conducted thesis research. Studies for prelims.
spread out our data for a research project in order to discuss and collaboratively
analyze.
study groups gave oral reports of their projects: several of the groups used the
computer to show websites they had found.......very effective for this.....nice
seating arrangement too…
Used large display screens to highlight data and web sites that would be used for
my masters project as presented to my committee. It was perfect in that the
computers were there, there was a large conference table, and it was easy access
from most parts of the campus for my committee members.
Used technology - Power Point, and internet research

this room?
No 10
Yes 2
If yes, please describe the problem and how the problem was resolved:
No wireless or internet connection for equipment I brought in.
It was not possible to print locally. It would be great if there was access to
the printers in the Multimedia Lab.
13. Why did you decide on this room, instead of another place on campus?
Easy place for a group to meet
We could reserve it so we knew we had a place to study
Quiet. And the grad study rooms were too crowded at times. Grad study rooms also
had temp issues where they were too cold.
Quiet, good facilities, flexible schedule.
convience and size of room
The library is very convenient place for everyone to meet, but large study room are
much to loud to work on a group presentation. The large monitor was very
appealling too.
There is space, privacy, comfortable quietness for groups to meet and we needed to
use a computer and Internet access.
Less traffic from undergraduate students, and it was a quite functional area.
it is designed for collaboration -- easy to share work and jointly work on a common
computer.
Convenience and accessablity to high speed computers with large screens for good
viewing for more than 2 people
It was the only place in the library that you could reserve for a small group
internet access and size of room
14. What is the likelihood that you will use this room in the future?

16. Please feel free to make any comments that you think would be useful to
improving the usability of the Collaboratory.
Continue to make it available!
Less viruses on the PC. Post directions on how to use the whiteboard if a group can
use it.
A lot of times the collaboratory is reserved when we need it i.e. the Muslims reserve
it atleast once a week. I think the collaboratory should be limited to a certain
number of uses per semester until we can afford to create more collaboratories.
It would be great to have several rooms with the same facilities as the
Collaboratory because it's often booked when we want to use it.
