GREETING CARDS
Have you ever sent or received a greeting card
that gave you an emotional lift?
This assignment will demonstrate your knowledge of how to feel
empathy for someone. Example #1: You are happy for someone
because they got a new job and you know it is an exciting
accomplishment. Example #2: You share emotions of fear of losing
a loved one. Example #3: You love the fact that you are a student
at Holy Cross High School! You take pride in it just as someone else.
Cards are a good way of communicating positive messages. We
sometimes think that empathy has to be a dark, sad emotion, when
really it is the ability to understand how one feels, regardless of what
emotion that person is experiencing.
Directions:
Design a greeting card that sends a positive, meaningful message to
someone in your life.
Fold a sheet of paper in half (either way is fine).
Decorate the front panel with a picture, symbol, or a brief
introductory message.
Open the card, and create a positive, meaningful message for
the inside. The message may address a specific event in the
person’s life, or it can serve to provide encouragement.
Be sure to add color to your card.
Have a friend spell check your work.
Not creative? Can’t draw?
Use your internet to find pictures that you can put your paper over and trace.
