Invitation to the Second Event of MUNOG_009
Sindelfingen, 26th February 2009
Dear headmistress or headmaster,
dear teachers and students,
Our Model United Nations Climate Change Conference in October 2008 was such a great
success that students and teachers at the Goldberg-Gymnasium agreed on a follow-up
conference in 2009. Responding to climate change still being one of the biggest challenges in
our days this time the focus will be put on a wider range. In addition to climate change
issues our students would like to deal with international politics as well.
Simulating the United Nations helps to develop knowledge and understanding among young
people and educational staff all over the world. Students shall become aware of the diversity
of other cultures, languages and values and particularly of political problems in our modern
world. It also helps young people acquire the basic life skills and competences necessary for
their personal development, for active citizenship, solidarity and participative democracy.
We, the Secretariat of the Model United Nations of Goldberg, are pleased to invite a
delegation of your school to the second session of MUNOG_009 taking place
from Saturday, 17th October 2009
to Wednesday, 21st October 2009
in Sindelfingen, Germany.
We will try to provide home accommodation for all participants, the host families will not
require any payment. The conference fee per person is 65 Euros. This price includes a flat
rate ticket for public transportation in this region at the price of 30 Euros, meals and
conference materials.
Ideally we think of 8 to 12 students accompanied by 1 or 2 teachers coming from each
school. But we will of course take pleasure in welcoming more students or teachers from a
school if they like to come to Germany.
How can you get to Sindelfingen?
The nearest airport is Stuttgart Airport served by some low cost airlines (germanwings, tuifly,
air berlin ) or Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport served by ryanair.
As the schedule includes Saturday morning and Wednesday evening, you should plan on
arriving October 16th and leaving October 22nd. Experience has proven that companies are
often willing to support projects like this one, this would be a way of covering travel
expenses.
MUNOG_009 is supported by Tanja Gönner, Minister for the Environment of Baden-
Württemberg, as well as by the towns of Sindelfingen and Böblingen.
We would be very glad to see you at the second session of MUNOG_009 in October 2009. We
hope to welcome a great number of students and their teachers from all over Europe and the
world.
Please let us know until 31st March 2009 if you are interested in taking part in the conference
and how many participants we can expect.
Final registration will be in May, 2009.
