ABOUT US
There are three kinds of insurance adjusters: the Staff Adjuster, the Independent Adjuster, and the
Public Adjuster. The first is directly hired by the insurance company. The second is like a subcontractor,
and is hired by the insurance company when a catastrophic event overwhelms the ability of their staff
adjusters to handle all the claims. And the final type, the Public Adjuster, works strictly for the policy
holder. Twin City Public Adjusting falls into this third category; we work wholeheartedly and completely
for you.
Why should you hire a Public Adjuster? A Public Adjuster helps make the process of your insurance
claims less stressful. They know and understand the key policy terms, conditions, rights and obligations
that you, as the policyholder, have to deal with. A Public Adjuster will work with you to help you
understand the aspects of the insurance policy and duties that come with a property loss, and then work
to get you the best claim possible. They will evaluate the existing polices to determine what coverage is
applicable to a claim and then support the claim on your behalf to negotiate a settlement with the
insurance company.
1) Evaluate your insurance policies with you to determine what coverage is applicable to a claim.
2) Research in depth all of the damage and content and all additional expenses.
3) Determine values for settling covered damages.
4) Prepare a document to support the claim on your behalf
5) Negotiate a settlement with the insurance company.
Throughout this entire process we will keep you updated and in the center. Nothing will be done
without your knowledge and understanding. We work with you and for you to ensure you the best
support and coverage.
Many homeowners settle for far less than what they should. It may just be one or two pieces of siding
that look different, or damaged windows and trim that have been overlooked by a contractor, but it still
reduces the value of your home. Twin City Public Adjusting believes that you are entitled to have your
home completely restored to its original state before the event that damaged your property. And only
we, as a Public Insurance agency, are equipped to deal with everything needed to make you whole
again.
Twin City Public Adjusting will take care of you. We will help make peace between the contractors and
insurance agencies, allowing you to rest easy. Your satisfaction is our goal and we work toward getting
you everything you deserve.

FAQ
How long does it take to settle a claim?
It will depend on the claim. A small claim may take a week or two, but a large claim can take from two to
four months.
What if we cannot come to an agreement with the insurance company?
Then you have the right to take your insurance company to what is called adjustment (it’s like
arbitration). Both you and your insurance company will pick an adjuster to represent both of you and
they in turn will pick an umpire as a third neutral person. The three of them will meet at the site of
dispute and come to an agreement as to what will be paid. There is a cost to be shared between the
policy owner and insurance company for the umpire which will vary from umpire to umpire but in most
homeowner claims ranges from $350 to $500 for each party.
What does it cost to use a public adjuster?
The fee charged by a public adjuster will be a percentage of the award or settlement. This fee is on a
contingency basis. If you do not receive a settlement from your insurance company, there is no fee. Fees
will range from 8% to 10% depending on complexity of the claim. This fee is generally paid in full upon
receipt of settlement check from the insurance company.
Are you connected to insurance companies?
No. We work exclusively for you, the policyholder, and not for insurance companies.
Why do I need help with the claim?
There are many reasons why you might want to consider help from a Public Adjuster when obtaining
your claim. A claim is required to be a written and itemized statement of all of your losses. You may not
know what all of your damages are, and an insurance company is not required to tell you, which puts all
of the responsibility on your shoulders. A Public Adjuster would help you identify the extent of your
damages.
Just the task of filing a claim is tedious and time-consuming. A Public Adjuster takes the stress of this
procedure and gives you the opportunity to focus on other things while they take care of everything
else. Public Adjusters will be able to save you from getting you settlements from your insurance
company that is less than what you deserve. Public Adjusters know the costs for repair and replacement
for your damages and will find everything that needs fixing that an insurance company may have
overlooked. A Public Adjuster is well-versed in dealing with insurance companies; they know what to
say and what not to say in order to maximize your claim and your satisfaction.
Won’t I get the same results if I work directly with my insurance company’s adjuster?
Not necessarily. Insurance companies hire and train their adjusters to minimize your losses. Their
adjusters do not work directly for you – they work for the insurance company. As a Public Adjuster, we
don’t want you to be misled. Insurance companies have their interests at heart, while a Public Adjuster
has your interests at heart. Insurance companies may overlook damages that will later manifest into a
bigger problem, or they can estimate the repair coast at a much lower rate than it is. Of course, not all
insurance companies use these tactics to their advantage, but that is why having a Public Adjuster on
your side is helpful. We will be able to guide you through the process so that you do not fall into a trap.
Is it too late to reopen my file if I’ve already received payment for my claim from the insurance
company and have realized it is too low?
No. A Public Adjuster can reopen your file at any time and work with your insurance company to achieve
a higher settlement. However, it can be difficult to do so after you’ve already received the payment.
This is why we encourage hiring a Public Adjuster from the beginning to avoid any mishaps like this.
