 Hi frends,
Most of them asked abt my interview experience. So i am sending a common mail to our group so that
every1 can be benefited. My paper was orange color. Dat color paper seems to be very easy always. I attended
1ly 16 out of 40. So i think the cutoff is less. I attended the questions which i was very much confidence wid the
answers. So guys always aten the question which u r confidence wid it so that u can avoid getting negative
marks. COming to my interview session, i had enough time thats a month period after my written test. Basically i
am an IT student. So i prepared from C,C++,OS, Data Structures,DBMS,Networking, Software
Engineering,Oracle. Almost all the interviews r purely technical. So if u r strong enough in ur basics, u can
easily get through. They can ask from ur favourite subjects or anything as they like.

I had questions from all subjects. But it was very much easy. I had a panel intview. It lasted for 20 mins.
The questions are as follows:

1. What is an object
2. Whats d diff b/w private n friend function
3. Unique key n primary key
4. diff b/w DBMS n RDBMS
5. Bubble sort
6. OSI layer session layer n presentation layer function
7. Deadlock
8. How to prevent deadlock
9. Round robin algorithm n 1 problem based on that

I had 1ly these questions. But most of them had even tough interviews. Then he askd about to tell me abt urself,
wat i was doing 4 the past 2 months. Atlast he asked if i want to know anything about cts. I asked him 3

1. How will u train an entry level engineer here?
2. Do u have any probation period?
3. Since dis is my first interview, can u giv me any suggestions so that i can improve myself?

I really enjoyed my interview n i was very much cool through out the session. So guys, don be panic. They
also check ur confidence level. If u dono anything, feel free to say that u dono or lost touch wid that subject.
Don confuse them. I will also mail the papers ASAP. Feel free to mail me if u have any more doubts. I wish u all
for a bright future. Take care. Keep smiling. BYe.

hi pals
I am pleased to inform that i got thru CTS.its my dream come true. i wrote my written on aug 14 and had
interviewed on sep 23 and i got selected mail on sep 25.I already posted my CTS interview experience.
Even before that i was placed at igate global solutions back in june16 and waited for my joining date till sep
15.but my joining date is deferred to march2 2005 coz they r expanding to new campus and would place us
there. But coz of CTS now i am elated.
I am expecting to join CTS before diwali to celebrate work.I heartfully thank chetanas innovative thought
to start this useful group and take time to moderate all the tons of mails -- tremendous effort.hats off to
moderator.coz i too a moderator of my coll grp.i thank all those who rendered help directly r indirectly.

i have no special material for written.but here is info to support CTS aspirants.
The books i prepared for written ..

       R.S.Aggarwal- quantitative aptitude

CAT - Critical and analytical reasoning.

also try to read gre word list.(if find diff dont worry be strong in other areas coz most people wont touch
eng section at all and could clear the test.keep in mind most people r of our category, yes i too not very strong
in english.)though for my paper no verbal.Practice to speak with ease before interview.

Do check these sites and group for further info

Infy solve:::::
hi there everyone,
guess most of u must have read my previous mails and are aware of the fact that i wrote the infy test on sep12
at christ college bangalore........................ and tat i got my offer letter yesterday, i have been to told to reprt at
mysore on oct 18 for training...........................
for those who r preparing 4 the oct 3 test of infy, hope the following information helps :
there were about 1800 odd ppl there, out of whom approx 270 odd cleared the written
test....................................and had their interviews in the next couple of days........................the test consisted of
10 puzzles(if u r lucky there may be only 9!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, i would say 9 is btter than 10 coz time is always a major
factor in this test).........and if u have answered 7 or 8 correctly (out of 10 i.e), u r most likely to make
it....................a small advice though, never miss out on the 8 marks surely will be a major decider in
who clrs the test and who doesnt......................NEVER EVER SPEND TOO MUCH ON A SINGLE QUESTION

infact i wyuld advice u guys to answer the smaller ones first, these wil hardly take any time.................and the
xtra time that u get from these questions can then be spent in solving the analytical questions ( george
summers may just prove to b sufficient in this regard, however any cat material on these questions will also
do).......................after which u have to undergo the english test, wherein u will be required to answer 45
questions in an hour.................................its very very easy, any person who can speak even passable english
shall clear the test................
the results were announced at about 3-30 in the evening, make sure u reach there by 3 or 3-15, cuz there will
be a huge Q to see the results , i had to stand in the Q for a hour and half to see my results and it was raining
that evening !!!!!!!!!
gals however r lucky in this regard, no Q for them, they just walk in n see the results ( n talk abt gender equality
!!)..........................the intvw will be held either the very next day or the day after that............
here is a crucial bit of info for all u guys, all that they look 4 is COMMUNICATION SKILLS, sure u will be asked
a few puzzles, but more than ur answer what they are intrested in is, how u approach the puzzles, the puzzles
themselves may be very vauge in nature.........n there may be no logical answer at all, but what u have to do is
cross question them, so that u they start giving u clues towards the solution, cuz nobody is good enuf to answer
such ques with minimal of data.....
the intvw may jus last for abt 15 minutes......................also b prep to answer ques like, why do u want to make a
shift from a non comp sci background ( iam a b.e. mech, and so i was asked this) and finally one last important
thing abt the interview........ur 8th sem project, no no, dont start opening ur project report and start cramming up
the things yet..........what they will try n find out is as to how good a team player r u ?.........n stuff like
n then u'll get the results in abt 2 weeks time, for some, it may take even 3 weeks...............the majority of em
get within the first 3 weeks (i guess)........................few of them, very very few of them i guess get their offer
letter even almost 2 months after giving the advice wuld be if u dont get the letter within
the first 3 weeks, jus give em a call.................all outright rejections !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, god forbid that happen to
anyone..........will be intimated on the phone, (no they wont call u, u have to call them, get it?).....................n if
they say that ur results r 'on hold', its as good as u having made it.......................u can expect ur call letters very
thats all abt the infy test......................
hope this info helps u in clearing the test........

p.s. : iam a 2004 batch fresher, and so plz plz dont send me any resume................i wont even bother to reply to
such mails......................n plz dont send me any puzzles askin me the methods to solve em..............doing those
puzzles jus once during the test made me go crazy !!!!!!!!!!!!! no way that iam gonna sit n solve em again 4 u
guys !!!!!!!!!!!
these r the books which u need to go through for the infy test :
shakuntala devi- puzzles to.........
shakuntala devi -more puzzles.................
these r 2 extremly stupid books !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! n u r bound to get frustrated while working out a few problems, a few
of them are unbelieveably stupid !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but cant help it, there r a few and i mean very few good questions in
these 2 books that can surely b expected in the test.
if u r still able to maintain ur sanity after working out the problems from these 2 books, u can move on to ravi
narula or george summers.............ravi narula explains the solutions to his problesm very
summers is a lil on the tougher side..................but u have to go thru the prob.............unlike shakuntala devi,
george summers makes u think analytically................
n just a day or two b4 the test, work out the previous question papers of infy.............jus work out 3 or 4 papers
and make sure u time urself, it'll give u a good idea abt where u need to improve urself.............. i wul;d advice u
ppl to work out the prob from the feb-march 2004 infy papers ( now, dont ask me where to find them).........cuz
very rarely r quest repeated from the recent papers.............

well thats it guys.............
GIVEN U INFORMATION WHICH IS MORE THAN SUFFICIENT............. so no more individual queries plz........

inf vvvvvimp:::::

n i exactly donno how many got selectd from other colleges who came to our college...
bye then
hello guys
i've been a member of this group for the past 3months.i got job in infosys.i wrote the test on 3rd oct in hyd and
attended the interview on 4th many of my friendz posted the paper earlier...i'lll not b discussing
that.basically as u all know the test consists of 10 puzzels..of differnt marks..never leave any 8 marks and
3marks unanswered.its better if u do the calculatuions in the rough sheet.
i have done 9 puzzels and im very confident of 8.may b i missed of my friend also attempted all the 8
marks correct but she didnt get two 3 mark questions correct.she was not dont leave 8 marks and
3 marks.
about the prep....its all common....but i ahvent done all those books.i jus did shakuntala devi(book
2)more puzzels and allmost all the previous questions papers.
by doin the previous question papers u'll not only have the idea of questions but also the difficulty level.
i suppose around 2000(im not sure) ppl attended for the test out of which only 58 ppl where short listed.
v had interview on the nxt day.its an hr interview.ONE MORE IMPORTANT thing.u'll b asked to fill up an
application form iin the contains ...ur achievements....marks obtined...etcwat ever u fill ...shud b perfect in
thatur interview starta from the achievements u mention.slowly it goes to ur project report.the questions depend
upon how u answer.
the basic general thing is that they want u to speak for one min continuesouly.they might ask u to speak on ur
fav topic or else they might give u a topic and then aask u to comment on that.
question asked:
1.y infosys...y not other companies(like tcs,wipro)
2.ur contribution to infy
3.they'lla sak u about ur achievements that are mentioned in the application
4.hobbies-shud explain them
5.about ur academic graph
6.about ur family

actually it went on....never lose confidence...answer everything very confidentally...if u donno some thing then
accept that ..dont even try to bluff it mainly depends on how u the last they gave 4
puzzels....1.arrange 4 balls at equi distant on plane surface
2.u entered a hall of some ht.right above ur head is a bulb hanging from the roof.and u need to
find out the height of the wall.
            3.make 100 out of 7 threes
4.u are moving in a car...suddenly it got punchured...u removed the trye....suddenly the tyre
and the bolts fell into a river...and u cant get them back..wat will u do??

after the interview they asked mee if i have any quries
1.i asked them bout the platform on which i'll b workin if got selected...coz i'll ahve a brush up with the basics so
that i can cops up with the training period(therez process of alloting the platform itseems) aim is to do MBA .is there any possibility of doin mba after joining in infy.
3.when can i expect my result(they said within one month)
and finally i asked to acknowledge my interview...i mean i asked them for any suggestion as this is my
first hr interview.they said that they are not supose to reveal anything..and said if u get selected then it is
assumed that u are perfectly alright and if u dont get selected then therez some problem.
thats it...the interview was for 25 min.
one more important thing.."never lose hopes ifnot selected for a job....think as if a better one is waiting for u"
about chetana groups...its a wonderful group....u can gewt any info at the corner of any city .it gives
job news...tells bout ppl ,their tough times in getting a job...the methodology of papers,interviews..hoe
to get best out of walkins..many members give their reference numbers...i thank once again all the
memebers of this group and the creator of this group.

i actaully tried hard to get a job..i'll list down my attempts

1.polaris--didnt attend as i was having a stupid telephonuic round in GE call center.(that was definitely my
foolish ness)
2.cts--didnt attend the test as the center was in chennai.
3.GE tech..begumpet center....this was completely my bad luck..therez a long story behind this.
4.tcs-i was very confident of getting thru the test but i didnt know that there was an upper limit cutoff same as tcs -he jus rejected my resume jus seening my resume...the problem is with my low 10th %
7.virtusa-along with many of my friendz i applied..all wwere called and i didnt get a call.
(not to mention)my academics are good enough than others...even then i was not called.
8.some sis company...didnt get thru test make thru the test
these are jus some good companies i have attempted but there are a lot more local companes....and submitted
100's of resumes in the hitech city.

never ever lose hope.the best is waiting for u
all the best
i hope this mail will definitely help u

any guys or gals from hyd who got the offer letter plz contact mee at
&FormName=mail_to_individual& or call mee to 9885076900
Hi Friends,

I have been pining to write this mail since last i have got the oppurtunity!

I am a 2003 batch passout and was jobless till now. After a full year of a bitter struggle, i've finally made it to
I appeared for the written test on August 8th, in Chennai with a lot of
juniors and appeared for the interview on 9th in Infosys office in Chennai.i got the official mail informing me on
20th August and have to join Infosys,Bangalore for training on the 18th of October.

I am writing this to 2003 batch students especially and also for 2004
batch engineers. however long it may take you to reach your goal, keep
trying , never ever miss any oppurtunity, have confidence in yourself.
and put at least 2 days preparation before every test.Dont be overconfident.BEcoz that is the sole reason why i
couldn't make it till now.i appeared every test without even opening the aptitude book, thinking that my
intelligence would carry me through. But, i was proved wrong time and again and learned my lesson the hard
way.please , solve the previous question papers of all companies available in Chetana group. We all have a
wonderful resource in Chetana to tide over the very crucial battle of getting into a good comapany and it would
be sheer foolishness not to use it to our advantage.Let me list my failures, so that other Chetanaites who are
searching for a job do not lose heart and come to believe that failure is but, emporary...success is always
waiting for U ..only the time it takes to reach there is different for different people.

My job search started in September,2003 when our last semester was
coming to an end.

September,2003 - Satyam(Bhubaneshwar)-Wrote all answers in question paper and left the answer sheet
blank.(for which i should have
got 'The Idioit of the year' award !!)

September,2003- Jataayu(Berhampur)- Failed in written test.

October,2003 - Sat at home

November,2003- CTS(Chennai) Failed in written test.
December,2003- Wipro -Didn't appear test fearing failure.

January,2004- joined an engineering college as junior lecturer.

February,2004 - TCS(Chennai)- Cleared written.flunkled in psychometric test.

March,April,May,2004 - Busy in lecturer job.

June,2004- Quit my job.

June ,2004 - Wipro- Cleared written.flunked in technical interview.

July,2004 - Got thru a call center , but didn't join.

August,2004 - Infosys-At last cleared both written test and interview.

So,friends this long list of failures should give you hope that theres always light at the end of the tunnel.Just
keep trying to get there.

This was the last door to a S/W job for me, I knew if i failed in this , my future would be doomed forever. In fact, i
had no confidence in myself and was in tears before the test,But, my parents had
more confidence in me than i had in myself. In fact, the very thought that i would again dash all their dreams
brought tears to my eyes. But, now that i 've got thru i am sure its becoz of my parents good wishes, prayers and
their confidence in me that God has finally been kind to me.

7-8 questions were either from Shakuntala Devi's puzzle books or the past question papers. So, folks just dont
forget to do that. For infosys, u dont need R.S.Aggarwal, i think.
Only solving puzzles and a bit of logical reasoning should get u thru. But, then again if u dont want to take any
chances, go thru the aptitude as well coz overconfidence is a great killer.but, do solve ALL(ALL(all)) the puzzles
from Shakuntala DEvi's PUZZLES TO PUZZLE U.
it might prove crucial and make all the difference between a hit and a miss.

I was confident about 7 questions which i had done, the cut off must be 6 or 7 out of 10. u have to
solve 10 questions in 1 hr.the time is more than enuf. so, folks even in the exam hall , dont accept defeat if the
questions are unfamiliar and give it your best shot.

after, the puzzle test there is a test of English for 1/2 an hour.Very basic stuff.About Std-6 standard.just reading
comprehension, correct form of tenses, analogies, etc.its damn easy and nothing that u need to prepare for.

this was the coolest interview i ever attended in my entire life.
my interviewers were 2 gentlemen who asked everything very fact, i felt as if the interview was over
before i could say lasted only for 20 mins. They even cracked a joke at the end and were laughing
uproariously at that.
I must thank my lucky stars and god coz i got really , really sweet and good interviewers. they didn't even ask a
single puzzle from me . in fact , that was the reason why i was very frightened that perhaps they had not found
me eligible enough...but thank god, they selected me.

The questions they asked were :

1. Give a demo of how u take a class (since i was a lecturer )

2. tell us about your academic life .

3.What were u doing the past one year(as i am a 2003 batch pass out)

4. Tell us 2 sentences that u like of your own writing and of someone else's writing.(i had written my hobby as
writing; they always ask u couple of questions about ur hobby)

5.Will u be willing to work as trainer here at Infosys?
6. Will u work with us even if we pay u as much as they paid u in your lecturer job ?

7. Are u willing to be posted anywhere,i.e,even in north ?

I hope all this will give sufficient info to all job seekers about the infy selection procedure as well as be a boost
to them.

All of u have it in u !! Do not lose heart and keep on trying !!
there is a job for each one of u in an MNC , earmarked JUST FOR U and waiting for u ...waitng to be claimed
by , what are you waiting for guys !! Just go and get it !!!

I am Naresh. Its time that i tell u people my experience... i felt
better by reading others experience when i was looking for a job,
hope mine too makes some difference in some ppl ....

i am a B.E computer science graduate... My fear of my future started
when i first calculated my overall percentage in my B.E.
in the end of my third year... First to tell u abt myself, i can
understand things easily and reproduce in my own sentences, i lack
the ability to reproduce it as it is in the book.. and i also lack
good memory of remembering the sequence of subtitles in a topic.. i
cannot remember anything if i try to mug up things, so i never do add to that i got a bad handwriting which i developed due
to lack of attention in my childhood, its now out of my control to
try to change my Handwriting...
My aggregate was 65%, over all.. i knew that its going to be
difficult for me to make it to 70% which most of the companies now a
days ask for ... i did my best in my sixth semester and got 79% in
that sem.. it boosted my aggregate a bit. As u people are aware that
we have a project in final Yr. i along with 2 of my friends did a
project in HCL peripherals, i took up a course in NIIT Nungambakkam
for .Net to make an alternative path, if i did not make my aggregate
to 70%.. my friends took care of the project and i was concentrating
my studies in NIIT. one of my classmates in NIIT subscriber me to
Chetana Group , I felt better reading stories of ppl telling how
long they have to wait and how hard they have to try to get a job,
So i began to prepare myself mentally. i started to apply to
companies from Jan 2004, even before i wrote my 8 sem exams.
i forgot to tell u people that i entered my college in management
quota, this adds up to the burden, i have to get a job and start
supporting my family, bcoz my mom and dad has spent most of the
money on my studies and its my time to support my brothers studies,
he is in 12 std. i have just a year before i earn some money for his
admission in the college.
i wrote my 8 sem exams and i knew very well that i will not touch
70% aggregate, I continued my studies in NIIT for .NET after the
break i took to write my university exams, i got some offers in .Net
initially which was to work without salary and then the company
might take me in or may not.

the mental stress and the burden i was experiencing made things more
difficult, for me to attend the interviews in .Net where i was asked
to work without salary or for 3000/month.. i spent around 50,000 for
my .Net studies alone, i was run down... and my dad was always there
to help me out, he was assuring me that with one years experience
you can get in to an MNC.
I sometimes get angry with companies recruiting ppl from other
departments like ECE or other streams just bcoz they passed an
aptitude test. then i understood the concept that the companies
follow, if someone is able to solve a problem with some set of basic
principles that was taught to them, they will be able to do the same
with computer languages. Its the similar kind of principles taught
in a computer language and the problem is the customers requirements.

once i finished my NIIT course i wrote my certification exams SQL
Server 2000 and ASP.Net, i was preparing for my next exam and was
planning to leave to bangalore on 5 of August(first friday) to give
me a days time to settle in bangalore, as i guessed that there might
be some walk-ins in the first weekend of the month, as it was on the
previous month.

At times i used to sit and just keep thinking... abt my future... i
felt it was dark and lead nowhere... But my dad was always there and
supported me. i used to go to temple and just sit there and think in
silence... the decision that i take there stays and i 've found it
to be appropriate always!!!

i was planning to book my tickets tomorrow and when i was checking
mails in the evening i got a letter to write my test... i was
waiting for seven months almost from Jan. to get a written test from
an MNC. my plans changed and i dropped all my current .Net stuff and
started to study Shakuntila devi and R.S.Agarwal. i saw a mail in
Chetana group from Abhijit, his mail was of gr8 use, if i had not
seen his mail i would not have touched george summers.. i am
greatful to him for taking pain to write the mail so detailed to
give us important problems and tips...
i still remember the contents main points... "Never start off with
question papers" and "be cool during the exam" which helped me a lot.

i wrote my exam on 8 Aug. i wrote 6 problems and was selected. in
the interview i was asked technically abt the COM and DCOM which i
don't know, i knew only .Net, but i was able to answer other
technical questions in SQL Server, I solved the puzzle that was
given to me. I was intimated on 20 August that i was selected.

Try to have an alternative path... that helps U a lot and makes u
feel better... Don't waste time.. go to some centers like NIIT and
try to teach.. it will help U refresh what U have learnt and also
keep U busy, and not to experience what I have... Remember U cannot
use it as an experience teaching in NIIT...

You can try for a job in small companies which need people in some
specific field.. say .Net or Oracle ... U can learn these side by
side .. when U r working temporarily in NIIT..

If U r able to find a job in some small company as a programmer..
then it is really gr8.. U r still a fresher till the other batch
comes out... Once it is out... U r NOT a fresher... If U r able to
find a job before that.... (i Know U will) Just in case... always go
for the worst case..

U will fell better when U r not in the worst case and more
important... U will be ready to face it in a better manner, when U R
in the worst case, that really matters... So go for the worst case
and be prepared for the worst...

Hope i did not bore U with my long narration..

Dear friends,

KOLKATA, MUMBAI, COIMBATORE, VELLORE. This is the result of your hard
work and talent. But friend there is also some contribution of
helpful members of this group is present behind your success. But
just two or three candidates have sent their experience. Though this
is your time for enjoy, don't forget about those candidates who till
now struggle for get a start in their career. So please friends send
all the questions which u can remember which u have faced on 18th,
19th or 20th February 2005.
Hope, all of u will successfully overcome the remaining
stages of selection and got the call letter. And please send recent
TCS papers in no time.

Hi friends,

I am very happy to inform you that I have been placed in infosys..

Its not tat difficult to crack infy test,if u work hard.. if u r cleared the first
round , then u r selected in infy. Second round interview s just an eye wash. They
look at only ur communications skills

I would advice u for the following:

1. Puzzels to puzzel you by Sahkuntala Devi
2. More Puzzels to puzzel you by Sahkuntala Devi
3. GRE Analytical questions from Barrons (Give stress on the ones having
some text followed by 4-10 questions)
4. George Summers.
Start 1&3; together and in any case finish them throughly.
Then 2&4.;

Start with easy questions and do as many questions correctly as you can ,
remember this is a competition. There is no negative marking. No marks given
for wrong answers.

Hunt for questions that u are confident that u can solve in the not just jump on questions having more marks and also do no
unduly refrain from attempting them. All i mean is that first do what you r
sure about and then enter the unknown territory.

I ll help u since I know how much difficult to get a job..

wish u all the best n thanking u chetana mam..

  Hi ALL,

Many ppl have asked me abt INFOSYS TEST & INTERVIEW.... but i can't reply to each
one separately... so plz read the following mail for information....

For INFOSYS TEST, practise puzzles from books by George Summers, Shakuntala Devi
And Ravi Narula. There r two different books by Shakuntala Devi.

U need not solve all puzzles just some selective ones..... if u r not able to
select.. take a look on Infy's previous papers.....

In the beginning, if u r not able to solve the puzzles.. look back for
answers...... then, u'll understand how to approach a puzzle.... when u develop an
approach to solve the puzzles... move to Infy's previous papers...... practice the
papers with a time limit..... i.e. solve each paper within the given time which is
1 hour.... time-bound preparation will really help u to manage time during the

But if u have lesser time to prepare....... straightaway start off with Infy
papers..... also do time-bound practices....

The test also has an English section of half an hour...... the english section is
very easy.... need not prepare if u have a normal standard of English..... but if
u r very weak u need to prepare.... it mainly chks ur grammatical skills....
filling prepositions, correct form of verb, knowledge of tenses, finding the
correct sentence out of two similar sentences, finding the correct sentence out of
three or four given sentences (which may not be similar),..... etc.

The aptitude (puzzles) test has questions varying from 9 to 11 questions in each
paper. Usually, it has 10 questions in 1 hour. The English test has 45 questions
in 1/2 hour.

Basically what they look for in Infosys interview is ur confidence, ur
communication skills, ur presentability, ur presence of mind, and ur approach in
solving puzzles.... they also look for team management skills... i.e. how wud u
cope with a problem in a team, how wud u react to a particular crisis or unhappy
result in the team, how wud u behave in a team..... etc...

For me.... first they asked me to speak abt myself.... which usually includes.....
where ur parents r working.... from where u did ur schooling.. college... ur
strengths, weaknesses and hobbies.. etc....

Then they asked me three puzzles.....

1) There are three friends staying in three rooms in a hotel.. they don't wish to
share their ages among themselves... how wud u calculate the average of their

Ans: They'll not share among themselves.... but u can ask their ages n calculate
the average !!

2) How wud u plant four trees at equidistance??

Ans: They never asked u to place all four in one plane !!!!
Plant three trees at the vertices of an equilateral triangle.... then place the
fourth one at a equi-distance from all three above that plane..... i.e. at the top
of the pyramid.....

3) There is a cubical room... a spider is sitting at one of the corners of the
room..... the spider has to move to the corner which is diagonally opposite to
this corner?? Find out the path he shud take up so that he has to move the least
distance to reach the diagonally opposite corner.
