Average Speed of Walking Lab
→ Calculate the average speed for each walker by taking the total distance (2 m + 4 m + 6 m + 8 m =
20 m) and dividing by the total time (Time 1 + Time 2 + Time 3 + Time 4 = ?) you measured. Record
this value in the average speed column of the data table.
Walker Time 1 (2 m) Time 2 (4 m) Time 3 (6 m) Time 4 (8 m) Average Speed
→ Graph the position vs. time graph for each walker. Remember, time is always on the x-axis! If
one of the walkers had a Time 1 of 2.3 seconds and a Time 2 of 5.8 seconds, then you would plot the
points (2 meters, 2.3 seconds) and (4 meters, 5.8 seconds) to illustrate their motion.
→ Describe the motion of each walker in 1-2 complete sentences. Did they speed up or slow down or
walk at a steady pace? Was there any pattern to their motion?
