Empowering Possibilities Through Education
Priority Press, Ltd., 2111 Yardley Rd., Yardley, PA 19067
Dear VBMA Chapter Leaders,
The National VBMA has partnered with
Priority Press, Ltd. (PPL) to offer individ-
ual VBMA chapters a unique opportunity
to provide a membership benefit and
fundraiser!
We are promoting the sales of Dr. James
F. Wilson’s legal and practice manage-
ment books through your chapters at
prices well below retail. Each book is written in Dr. Wilson’s practical, easy
to read fashion and constitutes a pertinent and essential resource for stu-
dents as they prepare to enter the workforce and proceed with their careers.
Your chapter will be able to purchase these texts at a substantial discount
and, after adding a chapter determined handling fee, resell them to VBMA
members and nonmembers as a fundraiser, member benefit and/or as a
membership drive promotion. Since Dr. Wilson teaches at two-thirds of the
vet U.S.A’s schools, it will probably be most effective to coordinate sales
with his visit to your school.
As part of this program and the VBMA’s “branding” efforts, the VBMA logo
is printed on the cover of two of the books along with its mission statement
just inside the front cover. For the other books, stickers will be applied with
the same information. If you like this idea, you may wish to apply this
unique branding idea to other projects your chapter undertakes in the fu-
ture. Priority Press can provide you with the stickers to do so.
This discount is only offered in sales through VBMA chapters, so please
read on for more information to learn how to offer this great opportunity to
your members and peers.

Getting Started is Easy!
1. Look at the four books on page 4. Note the difference between
the retail price and the price charged to your chapter!
2. Go to www.vbma.biz/priority-press for documents & contact
Priority Press, Ltd for more information and to place orders.
3. Decide your pricing strategy . See page 5 for suggestions or set
your own prices! This is a great opportunity to sell various
books with different mark ups, bundle them to maximize sav-
ings and determine the “price points” that maximize sales.
Learning this valuable marketing technique as a chapter
leader allows you to include it on your resume and take this
skill with you after graduation.
4. Appoint or select one (or two) VBMA members to oversee this
project and promote sales efforts. As thanks for assistance, a
free Job descriptions book is provided for up to two sales coor-
dinators per chapter.
5. For chapters selling > 50 books, a free copy of any one of the
other 3 books will be provided to the sales coordinator(s)..
6. Submit the VBMA chapter order and payment form along
with your payment to Priority Press..
7. If not already on them, apply VMBA stickers to Law & Ethics
and Legal Consents books. (See document on website)
(Please see pg. 5-7 for more details)

*Contracts, Benefits, and Practice Management for the
Veterinary Profession

employment contracts and creative language to negotiate compensation,
benefits, and noncompete clauses. It’s an excellent resource for your
practice management course assignments and a great reference when
negotiating your value with potential employers!

law, malpractice, legal use of drugs, credit mgmt, equine pre-purchase
exams, tricks of the trade for effective, defensible medical records, wildlife
law & more. Easy to read in plain English, not legalese. This is a valuable
reference on this subject for students & recent grads covering a breadth of
subjects that can be used for the long term. (Over 16,000 copies in

*Legal Consents for Veterinary Practices, 4th Ed.
(Published late 2006 with 72 consent forms!) This publication & CD
provides templates for virtually every common procedure that practices
perform. In doing so, doctors, staff & clients all are on the same page with
respect to the risks & expected outcomes. These forms supplement
medical records to build strong legal defenses that help hold practices
harmless. A perfect reference for the 3rd or 4th year students who want to
arrive at job interviews, externships, or first jobs out of school with a
practice management tool that will impress employers from day one.
All forms are in English on the left page and translated to Spanish on the
right.
Retail Price: $117 Price Charged to Chapters (includes shipping): $64
*Job Descriptions and Training Schedules for the Veterinary Team
This book & CD contains well-defined job descriptions that allow
purchasers to look business savvy while providing managerial assistance to
the practices that hire them. Practices that use these will help their staff
understand what is expected of them & the duties they must master to
advance their careers. The training schedules establish priorities for the
order in which tasks should be learned, timelines for mastering them and
benchmarks to meet. This process prevents new employee overload.

Priority Press VBMA Book Discount Program
1. Contact Priority Press with your interest
PPL already has previously or will provide chapters with free copies of each
book so they can be shown to potential purchasers. Please check to see if
your chapter already has these books in its VBMA library before ordering.

Priority Press, Ltd. subject line).
2. Decide on a pricing strategy
This opportunity comes with three options for your chapter to pursue:
Maximal Member Benefit Pricing: Pass very low prices on to members at the
already low VBMA purchase price with no or minimal mark-up, thus, using
this solely as a membership benefit;
As A Member Benefit + A Modest Fundraiser: Chapters have the liberty of
adding a handling fee mark-up to the purchase price, thus, using this as an
effective fundraiser. Most have added $5 to $10/book in order to provide a
modest return for the work required to offer this valuable reference to stu-
dents but still keep its cost well below each book’s retail sales price.
As A Member Benefit with Mark-Ups Set As A Major Fundraiser: This en-
tails adding whatever price your chapter wants for sales to members vs. non-
members. It generates additional revenue for your chapter while giving stu-
dents a valid reason to become a member. Overpricing will reduce sales !
3. Review the “VBMA Chapter Payment and Order Form” and the
“Student Order Form”. (These documents are located under the Members tab
after clicking Priority Press on the NVBMA website)
The Chapter Payment and Order Form.xls
Your VBMA chapter will be responsible for collecting all the money from
purchasers, depositing it in your bank account, and submitting this order
sheet along with one VBMA check for the full amount to Priority Press, Ltd.
Ideally this is done within six weeks of the time you commence sales. Be
sure to keep copies of the order sheets for your records. This form specifies
the prices your chapter will pay for each book, including shipping. Hold
your cursor over cells with red diamonds in them and read the comments.
Upon receipt of orders, PPL will make a bulk shipment from Yardley, PA to
the named representative from your chapter.

Priority Press VBMA Book Discount Program
The Student Order Payment Form.xls
This form is a convenient way for your chapter to track sales. It shows the chap-
ter purchase price for each book and associated mark-ups for members and non-
members. Hold your cursor over all cells with red diamonds in the upper right
hand corner and read the comments. They explain the pricing and “bundling”
strategies associated with sales of single vs. all four books. Your chapter can ad-
just prices to reflect its desires . Note: to prevent misuse of these steep discounts,
there is a purchasing limit of three books of any one title per student.
Depending on the size of the classes in your school and which option your chapter pur-
sues, sales of 100 of these books could result in net proceeds ranging from $750 to $1,700!
4. Promote the Sales of Your Books
After Priority Press has made sure that you have the books in hand, and your
pricing strategy established, you can pass them around in class, during chapter
activities or CE events and lunch hour book fairs to allow students, interns, resi-
dents, and/or faculty to become familiar with them. Additionally, you can place
copies on reserve in your library for potential purchasers to view at their leisure
and use the Priority Press VBMA Book Fundraiser brochure as a convenient way
to distribute information on the texts and collect payment.
The Priority Press VBMA Book Fundraising brochure is available as a PDF file
(example) and a Word document. The first item of business is to enter your chap-
ter information where you see yellow highlighted text. Unless you accept pricing
as shown, the next task is to change the pricing to reflect what you decided. When
finished, print with a double sided printer using the “open to top” format,. Fold
into to thirds to create a trifold document with the pages positioned correctly.
Sales efforts usually are most successful if they coincide with Dr. Wilson’s teach-
ing at your school. However, not all schools will have that option. Where Dr.
Wilson’s Contract Negotiation Assignment is part of the grade for the course in
which he teaches, the Contracts book is a valuable resource for students. That
means your chapter should market this before he arrives and place an order in
advance of his visit so books are available before assignments are due.
The other three books can be ordered from PPL after potential purchasers have
seen copies and your chapter has orders for a specific number. To see Dr. Wil-
son’s teaching schedule for the 2009-2010 academic year, please refer to page 7.
5. Book Distribution
At the time your order is placed with PPL, the person who handled the promo-
tion will be responsible for receiving bulk shipments, comparing the books re-
ceived with the packing slips and invoices, applying the VBMA logo stickers to all
books sold if not already done (directions for application are included in the
VBMA Logo Sticker Instructions document, and distributing the books to buyers.
Any difficulties that arise are handled directly through PPL. Books usually arrive
by UPS in five to ten business days after receipt of the order.
