Grooming………………..
1. Use a curry comb and go in circles. (Also do
the under belly)
2. Use a hard brush and fling the dirt off (don’t
forget to go down the legs and under the
belly)
3. Use a soft brush to get the dirt off the top of
the hair go all over the body again.
4. Pick hooves get deep into the cleffs and do
all hooves.
Tacking up a horse
1. You get the tack (bridle, saddle, saddle pad,
other pad)
2. Put the saddle pad on a little over the
withers and the straps of the pad should be
in the front
3. Put the numnah (or any other pad you prefer
to use)on right over the saddle pad
4. Put the saddle gently over the horses back
5. Pull the pads up into the gullet of the saddle
Bridling a horse
1. Put the rains over the horses head
2. Hold the bridle in your right hand over the
horses nose while cradling the bit in your left
hand
3. Move your hand upward then put your
thumb in the back of the horses mouth and
they will open up( there are no teeth back
there so they can not bite you!)
Bridling a horse
4. Pull the head stall over and behind the ears
5. Fasten the throat lash under the throat and
you should be able to fit 4 finger in between
the throat lash and the horse
6. Fasten the nose band, it should be loose
enough so one or two fingers can fit
Mounting onto a horse!!!!
• Get your horse lined up with your mounting
block or the fence
• Hold your rains with your left hand and hold
the pummel of the saddle with your
right hand
• On the left side of the horse put your left foot
in the stirrup

• Sink all your wait into your left foot and swing
your right leg over the saddle
