Magazine's "Best Doctors" List
The 2011 annual report from New York Magazine features 16 physicians from Cohen Children's
Medical Center, including specialists in pediatric surgery, genetics, cardiology and neonatal, as
well as laparoscopic surgery

of "New York's Best Doctors.” Of the 1,144 physicians on the 2011 compilation, 16 of those doctors work
with Steven and Alexandra Cohen Children's Medical Center of New York. The "Best Doctors" list is a
melting pot of specializations, including pediatric surgery (where Cohen Children's Medical Center offers
various modalities, including minimally invasive pediatric laparoscopic surgery ) and child psychiatry, as
well as behavioral health, immunology, endocrinology and more (as noted below).
In addition to the 16 featured pediatric physicians, 83 others were listed whose primary affiliation is with a
hospital in North Shore-LIJ Health System .

company, Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., publishes an annual guidebook titled Top Doctors: New York Metro
Area, which lists those whom Castle Connolly has determined to be in the top 10 percent of the region’s
physicians—more than 6,000 in all. For the past 14 years, Castle Connolly has been providing New York
Magazine with a shorter version of this list for the magazine’s “Best Doctors” issue. For 2011, the doctors on
the list number 1,144, with 99 from North Shore-LIJ Health System.
