Ken Kuykendall is a partner in the Chicago office of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and is the
leader of PwC's US Tax Accounting Services (TAS) and International Financial Reporting
Standards (IFRS) National Tax practices.
Mr. Kuykendall has over 17 years of US and international tax experience working with large
and mid-cap multinational corporations (MNCs) including providing support on assurance
engagements in the areas of tax accounting and Sarbanes-Oxley 404. In his role as PwC's
US TAS and IFRS Tax Leader, Mr. Kuykendall is on the forefront of understanding the broad
spectrum of business, accounting, and tax issues associated with new and constantly
evolving standard-setting and legislative developments. He has extensive experience in
accounting for income taxes, including tax accounting for international operations of US
MNCs including branch operations, cross-border transactions, and foreign currency
transactions. In addition to technical expertise in the area of tax accounting, Mr. Kuykendall
has significant experience with the operational areas of tax accounting and tax process
including leveraging people, process, technology and data to enable effective and efficient
tax provision cycles.
Mr. Kuykendall is a frequent speaker in many public forums including Tax Executives
Institute (TEI), the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Institute for
Professionals in Taxation and Tax Analysts. He has also played a key role in educating
external stakeholders, including the IRS and Congress, on the potential tax considerations
inherent in the movement to IFRS. Ken was nominated by Tax Notes as a "person of the
year in taxation" for his IFRS efforts during 2009.
Mr. Kuykendall has a Bachelors degree in accounting from Eastern Illinois University, a Masters
degree in taxation from DePaul University, and a Juris doctorate from The John Marshall Law
School in Chicago. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and
the American Bar Association.
