ANNOUNCING: FREE Audio Books and Magazines for
PALS, as well as a FREE player Available NOW!
FROM: National Library Service for the Blind and Physically
Handicapped (NLS) - The Library of Congress
If you are an ALS patient (PALS) or a caregiver who knows one, this may be of great
interest. Often PALS lose dexterity in their hands & arms, making it hard or even impossible
to read books and magazines normally. Thanks to this Federal Program you may now receive
a FREE specially formatted cassette player that can play audio books and magazines. Instead
of the regular 90 minutes, 1 tape in this system plays for up to 6 hours.
The player and ALL Books and magazines are FREE to all PALS. You just need to fill the application
and you will need a doctors note; stating that you have A.L.S. and have limited mobility that prevents
you from reading normally.
Send it to:
Georgia Library for Accessible Services (GLASS)
1150 Murphy Avenue SW
Atlanta, GA 30310
NOTE: You should request the “EASY” Cassette machine (Vs. the standard), as it does some things
(changing tracks, sides, rewinding tapes, etc) automatically. Still there are some things with the
player that a caregiver may need to do for you.

QUESTIONS / Further Information – Steve Parker; steve@alsaga.org
My dad (Jack Parker) was a PALS, and took full advantage of this service for over 4 years.
He thoroughly enjoyed it, and never paid a cent for any of the materials. Even the shipping
back and forth is FREE.
