Patients Benefit from Free Books

Patients at Longreach House, one of the county's two specialist inpatient

facilities run by Cornwall Partnership Trust for people with mental

health problems are benefiting from a generous gift from the Cornwall

Library Service.

Lindsay Hartgroves from Cornwall Library Service visited Longreach House in

Redruth today (3 September) to handover the selection of quick read books for

the enjoyment of patients in celebration of the National Year of Reading.

Accepting the gift, Chair of the Trust Vicky Wood said "I am delighted we are

forming this partnership with the Library Service. I hope our patients will enjoy

these bite-sized books, will benefit from reading them and immersing

themselves in the stories. I hope these books will encourage our patients to start

reading for pleasure – hopefully taking advantage of the excellent range of books

available from Cornwall’s Libraries by becoming members of the Library.”

Lindsay Hartgroves added “The Library Service is very pleased to join with the

Trust, especially in this, the National Year of Reading. We hope to be able to

donate more books to the Cornwall Partnership Trust in the future, allowing even

more people to benefit and perhaps, encouraging new readers as a result. New

Library members are always welcome, the libraries provide a vast array of

services, as well as books, DVD’s and CD’s and free Internet access for

members.
