RATN is a network of training institutions in east and south Africa established to provide a forum for communication between training institutions. Regional AIDS Training Network (RATN)
Training
Core training areas include: clinical management of STDs/HIV/AIDs, counseling, Community Outreach, Lab and research skills, training g of trainers, etc. Applications for specific courses are available at the RATN secretariat or website. Qualified applicants with full or partial support are given priority in selection process. Held in South Africa for non-South Africans; held anywhere in Africa for South Africans. Four fellowships are awarded annually. Fellows must return to home country. Host institution must be a university or research institute. The goal of the program is to further develop international efforts between researchers enabling LMIC scientists to be exposed to training environments in Canada. The potential scholar must have a mentor at an eligible Canadian institution and be sponsored by their own home country institution. The aim of this award is to develop training and mobility opportunities for researchers throughout their careers. The awards are individual fellowships aimed to attract world class researchers to work and undertake research training in Europe with a view to develop mutually beneficial research cooperation.
Currently the program is open to India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal. Other countries to be eligible in subsequent rounds. Senior Fellowship Programme
The aim is to identify and support senior researchers capable of building up teams in African intuitions that will be internationally competitive and capable of winning grants from international funding bodies for research on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria in Africa
Fellowships are awarded to African researchers with post-graduate qualifications and that have proven records of high quality research. Humboldt Research Awards highly qualified, early stage Fellowships researchers from abroad with doctorates, to carry out research projects of their own choice in Germany. Up to 600 research fellowships are available every year.

Career Development Fellowship: Interactive Learning Production
This fellowship is concerned with production of interactive training and distance learning packages. The fellow will work in TDR communication unit; lead a project, promote TDR activities at all levels, help pre-test and de-bug products, help ensure accuracy and quality of content, etc.
Fellows must be post-graduate. Short placement at TDR Headquarters in Geneva and then a move to the Wellcome Trust headquarters in London is required. Fellow must return to home country. Preference is given to candidates under 40 and to those from developing countries where TDR target diseases are endemic. Must have doctorate of medicine, MSc or PHD in microbiology or other biological sciences, be actively engaged in teaching, research or national public health services and be under 40 years of age. The UPCD program funds projects between Canadian universities and education and training organizations in developing countries. The goal is to enhance the latter's institutional capacity to develop the human resources to address their countries' most important development needs in sustainable ways.
