These not-to-be-missed workshops will draw on material from Neil MacKay’s book “Removing Dyslexia as a
Barrier to Achievement”, and look at how dyslexia best practice can be linked to the New Zealand Curriculum’s
challenge to do things differently.
With a reputation for cutting through rhetoric and red tape, Neil is a straight talker with a simple message –
dyslexia is a learning difference, or preference. And it only becomes a difficulty when ignored, dismissed or badly
addressed.
It’s an approach that has received recognition at the highest levels – Neil is a consultant to the British Dyslexia
Association as well as Education Authorities and Departments in the UK, Hong Kong and Malta. He is also a
teaching fellow at Trinity College Carmarthen, part of the University of Wales, and runs interactive workshops on
dyslexia, Masters level courses for teachers at several higher education centres, and courses on revision and
study techniques for students.
The New Zealand half-day workshops are open to all educators and they offer an exceptional opportunity to
spend time with a true innovator in the field of dyslexia. If you want to know how simple it is to help dyslexic
students in the classroom then these workshops are for you.
