Marilyn Mondt is a proud owner of a new zig-zag sewing machine. She will be a junior
in Delphos High School next year.
The bridge that went down was built in 1878. The new one will be about 150 feet south.
Shea's Café has a pale blue front and the bank is being worked on.
Two new residences have really nice lawns, the Grant Kiser and Ern Sidener homes. New
trees, shrubbery and fences, etc. also are very attractive.
Mrs Edith Olds attended her class reunion at University of Kansas. She graduated 1900.
Her granddaughter now attends there, Anne Gile, daughter of Mr & Mrs Henry Gile, of
Delphos.
Virginia Nightingales car, parked next to the City Park during her working hours at Dr.
Yowells, was the home of a sparrows nest, under the hood. What better place for a bird's
nest, than a Nightingales car?
Glen Cawker of Glasco won $200 at the Fishing Derby at Cawker City. His wife won 3rd
place, $25. Both were fishing with worms. 800 men, women and children participated.
On May 30th, Mr & Mrs Fred Jilka took Evelyn to Wichita where she played in the Lions
State Band.
A family gathering was held at the State Lake honoring the wedding anniversaries of Mr
& Mrs Ed Kiser and Mr & Mrs Vern Carver, both of which are on June 12th.
Mrs Sarah Santner and daughter Ailcy have moved to the former Catherine Krone
property on North Washington, just across the street west of the Catholic Church. Mr &
Mrs Arthur Copple moved into the Santner home at 216 North Main. They were
occupying the Laree Kirby home at 402 N Michigan.
The Methodist church Bible School closed Sunday evening with a program at the church.
Mrs Max Rolph was director. Mrs Bill Walker of Lamar was in charge of devotions. Judy
Ablard was pianist. Neva Hillebrand and lois Shirley were in charge of mid morning
refreshments. Teachers were: Nancy McHenry, Martha Funk, Evelyn Jilka, Darlene
Thomas, Andrea Alderson, Hazel Rolph, Vida Gehrke, Linda Willars, Thelma Baldock,
Blanche Rolph, Ronelda Meredith, Dorothy Sechrist, Erma Johnson, Patricia McKain,
Phyllis Martin, Eva Garst, Paula Reynolds,
Ms Lornie Crushna had surgery at Asbury Hospital this week. Her birthday will be on
June 16th. We are sure she would appreciate cards along with her other mail.
