1st Quarter Book Report
Choose one of the books that you read this quarter and make a poster advertising your
book so someone else will want to read it. You may type or neatly write each of the
different categories. See example posters in room 201. Turn this rubric in to me when
you present your poster. Due Date: Friday, October 12, 2007
On your poster you will include:
A picture of the setting, characters or an event that takes place in your story.
Use markers, crayons, colored pencils and or paint
______15 points: Neat and colorful and shows understanding of the story
The title and author of your book in big letters
_______5 points: Spelled correctly and written neatly and evenly (use a
ruler)
A summary of the book
________30 points: Paragraph form describing at least 4 events from the
story. Be sure to include the conflict of the story and why it is that
certain conflict. Ex.: man vs. man, man vs. nature, man vs. self, man
vs. society.
A detailed description of all main characters in complete sentences
________15 points: Include names of all main characters and a description
The theme of the story
_________10 points: State the theme (universal idea) of the story in a
complete sentence. Why does a certain theme fit the story?
The setting of the story
________5 points: State the setting (location and time frame) of the novel
in a complete sentence.
Why you are recommending this book
________ 20 Points: Neatly written (use a ruler to write evenly) in the
form of a paragraph with 3 or more supporting details from the story.
