Poetry Book Project
Due Date: May 22rd
Students will compose poems based upon the terms and structures learned in class.
The poems will be:
Personification
Simile
Metaphor
Alliteration
Imagery
Haiku
Repetition
Acrostic
Bio Poem
Quatrain
Two Free Verse (minimum of five lines)
Student may write poems on construction paper or it may be typed.
Students are to use at least 10 pictures to illustrate the book. The pictures may be
cut out from a magazine or may use clip art from the computer. No hand-drawn
pictures. Students will also include title page and a table of contents.
Students will also find 3 published poems on their own. The actual poem must be
included along with the author. Along with the poem, an explanation of the poem
and a reason why it was chosen needs to be written.
Finally, students will research one famous poet and include a one-page research
paper complete with a work citied page and using parenthetical documentation.
