Fund-raising ideas
Rummage Sale
o Details… a lot of work – but it can really bring in the bucks – biggest I’ve
heard of was $27,000, smallest I’ve had $6,200
o We did one day – with St. Vincent de Paul Society picking up all that was
left over at 3:30 pm – we were clean by 4:30.
o Others have done 2 day… whatever works best for you.
o This is about getting the parish behind what you are doing. Talking at the
Masses – inviting the parish to bring their unwanted, unused stuff – to
send OUR teens to WYD
o Really important to get the parents involved.
Service related – getting the parish more involved with what you are doing, and
are about.
o Offer to clean up for events/parties at the parish – ask if they would be
willing to contribute to your ministry – whether it is for WYD or
something else – but give it a name, a purpose.
Baby-sitting service – during Christmas shopping high times for parents.
o Offer games and all kinds of stuff
Little kid Lock-in - $10-20 per kid
o Friday night – offer games in the gym, movies, pizza, games, popcorn
o All put on by the high schoolers
o 7-10 pm
Little Kid Trivia Night or Sock-Hop
o Fun trivia night or dance for little kids in gym put on by the high
schoolers.
Gift wrapping service – for Christmas
o Have Saturdays/Sundays and some week night evenings… either at parish
or contact Malls/stores
Video golf/football/dance revolution – whatever!
o Ask kids to get sponsors, and have a tournament – could be a total blast
Car Washes –
o Parish or nearby gas station at busy intersection – easy way, no set up but
a little advertising.
Dinner Theatre
o For the parish. You could have the youth group run it and act in it. You
could create your own story or you find ones that are already created.
Sell Stock in the Trip
o Upon coming home – host a dinner for the share holders (people that
supported the event with their stock purchase), where you share your
experiences/photos.
Nickel and Dime Stuff
o Krispy Kreme Doughnuts after Sunday Masses
o Gus’s Pretzles, after Masses
o Pizza cards (Dominoes)
o Ad Books
o Candy Bars
BEG
o Info to the parish – they want to help, especially for specific causes.
