Expectations of Math Class

1. You are to keep a 3-ring binder where you will keep all notes, warm-ups, classwork

assignments, homework assignments, essential questions, teacher typed notes, tech

notes, and graphic organizers.

2. The notebook shall only include Math and shall have six (6) dividers labeled and in the

following order:

Divider 1: Warm-up

Divider 2: Classwork / Notes / Graphic Organizers

Divider 3: Homework

Divider 4: Essential Questions

Divider 5: Weekly Essentials

Divider 6: Tech Notes (Graphing Calculator Directions)

3. Each day when you enter the classroom you should immediately begin the warm-up,

which is usually found on the overhead, but can be a passout. You are to write each

question (paraphrase) and answer each question. Be sure that you date the warm-up

on the right hand side of the paper. If a weekly warm-up sheet is not provided you can

include more than one warm-up on a page and use the back of the paper to conserve

paper.

4. In-Class Examples (ICE) are to be labeled as such and dated on the right hand side of

the paper. You are to write each question and leave enough space for working out the

problem. This is guided practice and therefore, I will work these problems on the

overhead for you to follow and to copy.

5. All Classwork, Notes, Graphic Organizers shall be dated with the date on the right

hand side of the page. I collect classwork on occasion and you must submit it when

requested. I will not accept late classwork!!

6. Homework shall be given on most nights, Monday – Thursday, and the assignment is

due when you enter the classroom when requested by the teacher. I will not accept

late homework!! In the case that you are absent I will accept your missed homework

within three days of your return. Be sure to date your homework the day the

homework was given on the right hand side.

7. All work shall be kept in your Math 3-ring binder, which I will collect towards the end of

each quarter. Notebooks are worth 15% of your quarter grade. Each day that your

notebook is late a deduction of 5-points will be taken.

8. Each quarter I will assign a project, which will include a grading rubric and a due date.

The project is due on the due date. Late projects will incur a 5-point deduction per

day. Projects are worth 10% of your quarter grade.

9. If you fail to submit a project and a notebook for the quarter the highest grade you can

receive for the quarter will be a D providing all other grades are 100’s. If your other

grades are 90 or below you will receive a F for the quarter.

10. If you are given a ticket-out-the-door, you are to turn this in at the end of the class

period and not the following class or day. Grades will be assigned for this work and it

will count as a classwork grade.

11. You are to follow directions, procedures and rules! You are to keep talking down to a

minimum and should never talk while I am talking or going over a lesson. Give

respect……….get respect!!

12. Do the right thing and you will be rewarded accordingly.
