BOOK JACKET
When you have completed your reading selection, you will be creating a book cover that could be used for your book! The
following is what information you need to include for each area.
Front Cover: Book title, author, and symbolic, catchy picture that would sell your book
Binding: Title and author
Back: Detailed summary of the book (beginning, middle, and end)
Left Inside Flap: Critics’ comments. I.e. “At times wistful and at others hilarious, Where the Heart Is will
leave you uplifted and renewed.” --Burlington Free Press
“An engaging novel written with a light spirit and an almost always deft touch.” --The London Times
Right Inside Flap: Author’s biography. Look at your book and others for examples but make up your own. Be creative.
What kind of author and life does/did he/she lead? What other works has/had he/she written?
All information should be ORIGINAL! This means do not plagiarize from the existing book cover. Make a complete masterpiece
of your own.
The size of your book cover is as follows:
Front and back: No more than 11 x 8 inches (also be sure to not make it too small. You want room in which to work,
particularly if this is done by hand.)
Binding: No more than 2 inches
Flaps: No more than 3 inches
