                       Summary of Course Progress

Each year you should store your copies of all feedback sheets from academic work.
It is important that you record your marks and grades for modules on the “Summary
of Course Progress” sheets.

These documents provide you and your personal tutor with an “at a glance” overview
of your progress. You must keep this summary as up-to-date as possible and show it
to your personal tutor. A fully updated summary will help you to review your personal
and professional development and identify areas you could improve on further.
For a full explanation of the grading process for modules please refer to the student
handbook on the Birmingham City University intranet.

Here is an example of how to complete the summary of course progress sheets

    PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROFILE

This document forms an integral part of your professional development. This
personal and professional development profile provides you with the opportunity to
demonstrate your journey through this programme and display your growth as a
person and a Social Worker.

You must use a selection of the assessments and evidence you have gathered from
earlier in the Personal & Professional Development Folder to help create your profile.

An electronic version of this profile can be found at:
                     www.health.bcu.ac.uk/DPL/socialwork

You may complete this electronic version of the personal and professional profile in
preference to the hard copy in this section of your Personal & Professional
Development Folder.

You can identify development needs for each of the following areas:

 Academic Development and Information Technology
 Professional and Interprofessional Development
 Evidence Based Practice and Employability

As a guide in the first year you will be expected to plan and undertake to achieve
your personal and professional development.

In the second year of your programme you will review your personal and
professional development and consider your achievements to date before
setting new goals and challenges

In the final year of your programme you will devise a strategy to aid you in the
transition from student Social Worker to registered Social Worker.

Your personal tutor will discuss your progress with you at the each semester. Your
development profile must therefore be kept up to date at all times.

This profile is incremental in nature and will grow as you develop personally and
professionally.

Key points to consider when using this profile are:

– Use the assessment tools provided in your Personal & Professional Development
Folder to help you review current development needs.
– Decide on your priorities.
– Be realistic.
– Set yourself targets which are manageable.
– Provide evidence of your achievements for the development needs to verify your
     progress
– Review your progress regularly.
– Use this plan to set new targets as you progress.
– Your personal tutor and DPL are available to provide guidance about the
     completion of this profile
