Washington Talking Book & Braille Library Locally Produced Cassette Books 2006
This is a list of cassette books produced by the Washington Talking Book & Braille Library in 2006. Book listings are arranged by audience and include a brief description of the book’s content. These titles were selected for production based on patron requests and to supplement underrepresented areas in the existing collection. You will find that many of the books are by local authors or are set in the Pacific Northwest. Production of these books would not have been possible without the contribution of many hours of narrating, editing, and reviewing by our talented volunteers. Calabash: A Guide to the History, Culture, and Art of African Americans in Seattle and King County, Washington CBA 7717 by Esther Hall Mumford read by Alita Kiaer This compendium of people, places and events is organized by geographic location, and allows the reader to take a tour of sites of significance in the African American life of the region. King of Fish: The Thousand-Year Run of Salmon CBA 7643 by David R. Montgomery read by Lynda Emel Traces the human impacts on salmon over the last thousand years and examines the implications for salmon recovery efforts. Includes advice from the Seattle author on step-kids, ex-wives, holidays, and romance in spite of it all. Includes lists of resources. Songs of the Gorilla Nation: My Journey Through Autism CBA 7724 by Dawn Prince-Hughes read by Ann Lewis Memoir tracing the author's personal growth from undiagnosed autism through the moment when she entered the Woodland Park Zoo and immediately became fascinated with the gorillas. By observing the gorillas, and later, working with them, she was able to emerge from her solitude and connect to living beings in a way she had never previously experienced.
