Why Self-Publish and Market Your Own Book?
Time You can create, design, print and market your own books in a matter of
a few months. Mainstream publishers usually take years to accomplish what you can accomplish in a few months.
Additional Income When you publish and market your own books you
make the profit. Mainstream publishers pay an author royalty that rarely exceeds 10% of the cover prices. Usually it’s no more than 6%. On a $10 book you make only .60 cents a book and that’s if you ever get paid. When you publish your own books you set the price and usually make from $2.50 to $5.00 profit per book sold and even more. On the second printing you make even more per book since 90% of costs are incurred on the first printing.
Creative Control You decide how you want your book edited, designed
inside and out. Mainstream publishers often do not include the author in the creative process and if they do it’s usually on a limited basis. And almost always you do not have the final say.
