Book Proposal Guidelines Thank you for your interest in the Autism Asperger Publishing Company (AAPC) — an independent publisher writing for professionals and parents alike. Our publications offer practical resources that help parents, teachers, day-care providers and others offer meaningful, stimulating activities for children with autism, Asperger Syndrome and other pervasive developmental disabilities. AAPC accepts proposals for books on effective strategies and techniques that can be easily implemented in school, clinic and home settings. In addition, books targeted for individuals with autism and Asperger Syndrome will be considered. The language and general writing style should be “user friendly,” including vignettes, examples as well as tables and other illustrations to emphasize and clarify content as appropriate. Please visit our website, asperger.net, for examples of the kinds of books we publish. • To be considered by the AAPC editorial board, book proposals must consist of the following:cover letter, including (a) concept statement of book, (b) statement of how your proposed idea is different from existing products on the topic, (c) intended audience (description and age, if appropriate) table of contents — outline of your book synthesis and approximate length of each chapter 1-2 sample chapters or parts of several chapters suggested illustrations, if applicable author profile – to establish your credibility for writing and selling your book. Include a discussion of how you intend to promote your book. Can you conduct workshops at professional meetings? Have you led classes or workshops on the topic? What is your background? Have you published other books, articles, or other materials? If so, please tell us. • • • • • NOTE: Please submit hard copies of all materials. Do not submit proposals via email or on a disk/CD. Please do not send original artwork. Please allow 3 – 6 months for initial critique AAPC offers generous royalties and a helpful editorial staff who will work with you to ensure the best possible book.
