Pack 3333 Leader Recognition

Good evening. [John will intro - Jim Krzyzanowski the Committee Chairman for Pack 3333.]

I’d like to talk to you briefly about our volunteer leaders. Our Pack is run entirely by volunteer parents. We

believe that Scouting is NOT just another extra-curricular activity that should be chosen from a whole slew of

other activities like baseball, soccer, basketball, or football. Scouting should NOT be chosen as one activity

instead of another activity. Scouting should be chosen in addition to everything else that we want our sons to do.

Scouting is a “way of life”; and we can all exhibit Scout-like behavior in everything that we do: activities at school,

at church, with the family, or with friends; and of course…at Scouting events. The “Character Connections” taught

through various Scouting activities reinforce everything that we already want our sons to have as a foundation of

good character.

That is why our parent volunteers who have agreed to become registered leaders with our Pack are so willing to

“wear many hats” with all the jobs we agree to take on. We are husbands & wives, fathers & mothers, bosses & co-

workers, friends & teammates, Cubmasters & Den Leaders, Committee Chairmen & Secretaries, Popcorn Kernels &

Service Project Chairmen, Advancement Chairmen & Treasurers, Web Masters & Race Managers, Round Table

Commissioners & Camporee Organizers, “taxi drivers” & chaperones, and ALL examples to be looked up to.

Many of our parent volunteers were Scouts when we were kids. We remember the good times that we had. We

believe in the principles of Scouting. We KNOW that the principles of Scouting are a good foundation for a

successful life.

Our parent volunteers have pitched in; sometimes behind the scenes. And I want to thank all of you for your help

this year.

A special note of recognition needs to be made for Steve Conte who continues as our Popcorn Kernel. Also, Susan

Walker & the Den 2 Bears who coordinated this year’s PWD deserve some thanks. And to ??? Robbins & Justin

Gough, who managed our PWD software and determined winners. Thanks to ALL the adults who helped with this

year’s PWD. Speaking of which – this year’s Best Den Time for the PWD goes to Tiger Den 8 – please come up to

receive the traveling trophy.

Our volunteer needs range from small, one-time tasks to committed long-term positions in the Pack. And this year

we are losing over one-third of our registered adult leaders as they cross over to Boy Scouts with their sons.

Registered Leaders

Our long-term positions are mostly held by adults who have become formally registered with the Scout Office and

who have attended training for their positions.

At this time, I’d like to call up some of our registered leaders to be recognized:

 Our new Tiger Den 8 Leader – Wendy Krzyzanowski.

 Our Wolf Den 4 Leaders – Mike Verslype & Jon Berghoff (who is also our Pack Treasurer).

 Our new Bear Den 2 Leaders – Susan & Garry Walker.

 Our Webelos 1 Den 1 Leader – Steve Conte. Also, Brian MacRae & Dave Preston who are registered

members of the Pack 3333 Committee.

 And our Cubmaster, John Coffee who also continues to plan & coordinate our summer Resident Camp.

At the Miami District Recognition Dinner this past weekend, Wendy Krzyzanowski was recognized with the Princess

of the Year Award. All of these people deserve a round of applause!

You may return to your seats.

Crossing Over/Graduating Leaders

Finally, we have our Webelos 2 Dens 3, 5, & 6 who’s Cubs have crossed over to Boy Scouts tonight.

For the past five years, their Den Leaders have made sure that these boys participated in the best program

possible. They helped these boys grow from small, rambunctious, 1 st grade Tigers to sprouting, tall, mature 5th

graders ready for Boy Scouts.

All of them earned the Arrow of Light Award and several of them earned the “Webelos 20 Award”.

In addition to being Den Leader, these leaders have done more than their fair share of Round-Ups, Popcorn Sales,

Food Drives, Pinewood Derbies, and Campouts. They helped coordinate this Blue & Gold Banquet tonight.

At this time, will these Den Leaders please come up with your spouses to receive tokens of our appreciation?

 Den 3 => Lori Wenino & her husband Phil and Don Walther & his wife Melissa

 Den 5 => Chuck & Jessica Schubert

 Den 6 => Bob Schwab & his wife Cheryl and Louie Henry & his wife Rhonda

At the Miami District Recognition Dinner this past weekend, Don Walther was recognized with the Chief of the

Year Award. And Lori Wenino received the Unit Scouter of the Year Award.

Please join with me in giving these leaders a rousing round of applause! Thank you!
