					One Day Workshop on Commodity Trading and It's Awareness

        Madhya Pradesh has predominantly been an agrarian state economy, with more
than 70 per cent of the state's economy linked with some kind of commodity business
either as producer, processor, traders or consumers. The program thus introduces the
subject to all participants who had earlier missed learning the basics of commodity
        The Commodity trading awareness workshop has been initiated by School of
Economics, Devi Ahilya University and sponsored by the Forwards Markets
Commission, (FMC) Mumbai. It is conducted as a series of one-day workshops across
cities, major trading centres and educational hubs of State of Madhya Pradesh. In this
series a workshop was organised at MPISSR, Ujjain on February 18, 2009. The objectives
of the workshop were to improve awareness about the subject of commodity trading, to
communicate the benefits of hedging and price discovery offered by commodity futures
market and to help commodity trading bridge the gap between the local commodity
economy and modern globalised commodity markets.
        The workshop was attended by teachers, students, research scholars, traders,
agriculturists, bankers etc. The workshop was coordinated by Yatindra Singh Sisodia.
