February 11, 2008 Minutes

Meeting was called to order at 7:35 p.m.
Minutes for the January 14, 2008 meeting were distributed. Ralph Fader asked that the minutes be
amended to also recognize Mr. Randazzo’s contributions in coordinating band refreshments.
Motion made by Ralph Fader and seconded by Susan Pyle to approve the minutes as amended.
Motion was approved by unanimous voice vote.
Faculty Report
Mr. Lockart recognized Joe Kelly and Matt Angelo for their achievements in making All-State Orchestra
and Autumn Dilley for her achievement in making All-State Women’s Chorus.
Mr. Lockart also recognized several students for their performances of the National Anthem at twenty
four NHHS sporting events to date.
The NHHS Music Department website has been updated. Association members are encouraged to
check it out.
The Association was reminded of the following upcoming events.
February 28 & 29 and March 1 - Les Miserables at 7:30 p.m.
March 2 - Les Miserables at 2 p.m.
March 19 - Prism concert at 8 p.m.
April 11 thru 14 - Choir trip to Washington DC
May 15 - Spring Concert I at 7:30 p.m.
May 17 - Special choral concert with the University of Mississippi Concert Singer at 8 p.m. at
Immaculata Church.
May 22 - Spring Concert II at 7:30 p.m.
Additional volunteers are still needed to sell Les Miserable tickets; contact Savet Rosenblum to
volunteer.
Mr. Lockart reminded parents of the new NHHS policy regarding credit for AP courses. Students must
take the AP exam to receive full AP course weighing. Students need to sign-up for the tests by Friday,
March 14. Additional information is on the NHHS website.
Treasurer Report
An updated Treasurer’s report was not available.
Open Business/Roundtable/New Business
Mrs. Seidorf thanked Lyn Brokaw, Lisa van den Woldenberg & family and A. J. Seidorf for their
assistance in preparing the raffle ticket mailing. Mrs. Seidorf also thanked Lisa Melloy for obtaining the
Prism concert tickets and posters.
A coordinator is needed for the May music banquet. Banquet alternatives were discussed in the event
no one volunteers to coordinate this event.
There was a meeting of the NHMA Executive Board on January 31 to discuss planning for 2008-2009.
The Association is continuing to look for Officers and Committee Chairs for 2008-2009. Open positions
include: president, vice-president, band operations liaison, musical/play liaison, newsletter editor,
publicity chair and fundraising chair. Coordinators are needed for 3Q snack, marching band hospitality
(band camp, 7th & 8th grade band night, Columbus Day parade, Clinton Christmas parade, and
Flemington Memorial Day parade), homecoming coat check, band banquet, music banquet, and
concessions at special events. Please let an Officer know if you can help.
Mrs. Seidorf reported that Mr. Hughes is willing to purchase the remaining flip-flops on behalf of NHHS.
The NHMA Executive Committee supports the sale since the Association has broken even on the original
purchase and has had little success in selling the flip-flops over the past two years. The sale was briefly
discussed; there was no opposition.
Spring newsletter articles have been submitted. It is not yet known when the newsletter will be ready for
distribution.
Les Miserables cast and crew refreshments are being coordinated by Cate Mattison and Sandy Seidorf.
Concessions are being coordinated by Anne Zenerovitz and Sue Pyle. Thank you!
The Walmart Bake/No-Bake Sale is scheduled for Saturday, April 12. Possible issues with the selling of
home-baked goods were discussed. Mrs. Seidorf will discuss this with Lisa van den Woldenberg who is
coordinating the event.
Gary Gilbert scholarship applications are now available. A link to the application is on the music
department website.
Next Meeting
The next regular meeting will be Monday, March 10, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. in Room 123.
Motion made by Ralph Fader and seconded by Mary Genco to adjourn at 8:28 p.m. Motion was
approved by unanimous voice vote.
