Group 8 Lesson 3 Group Exercise 2
1. Create two lists for occasions, including: "Birthday" and "U.S. Holiday" based on logos
published in 2009 and 2010. (You do not need to keep the current titles of the logos. Do not
consider implementation at this stage. The lists can be used as single lists or merged into a
category like "Occasions" in the future implementation.)
Note: Build these lists with a bottom-up approach, i.e., based on what have already been
included by the Google logos in 2009 and 2010 instead of what have existed in the world.
Use only the official Google logos listed at: http://www.google.com/logos/
Birthdays - Listed Alphabetically (Last Name) and Listed by Country?
Another Possible List: Types of People (complex - authors, scientists, etc)
Use Country as Qualifier???? The () can be removed - just using for personal reference.

2. Discuss if there is any possibility that a member of one list can also be a member of another
list. What will you do about it?
Birthdays
Google is not necessarily a person, but it was listed for birthdays. I wasn't sure if we were
including it or not. We would have to research all the people if we were to categorize them per
contribution - authors, scientists, etc. Also, I have Pippi Longstocking in my birthday list, but as
a fictional character - I'm not sure. People could appear for 2 countries. I'm not sure how else
they'd be a member of 2 lists.
US Holidays
Happy Holidays seemed to replace Christmas a Global theme vs. US only. I thought we'd list
them in sequential order as they happen in the year or alphabetically - whichever you prefer. Let
me know if Earth Day or April Fool's Day would be considered "holidays".
