The ALPA was founded in 1931 by pilot
representatives of Major Air Lines in the U.
S. It rooted from Air mail Pilots of America
and National air pilots Association. In
1946 it led to the formation of the
International Federation of Air Line Pilots,
Association of Flight Attendants and Air
Line Employees Association affiliated
organizations.
The ALPA is based in Washington D.C.
They had represented the airline pilots
from major airlines.
March 14 2008 - US Airways management received
notification today from the America West pilots
requesting to commence separate contract
negotiations under Section 6 of the Railway Labor
Act. More than 500 pilots from Continental and other
ALPA pilot groups sent a strong message to New York
City’s financial markets: management must deal with
pilots to build successful airlines.
The Continental pilots’ March 12 Unification Rally in
the Financial District and Battery Park was supported
by ALPA leaders and SPSC members. Among the pilot
groups represented were Alaska, Delta, ExpressJet,
and United.
