Relative Cell Reference -- a cell reference is automatically copied relative ot its new location. B-12
- A type of cell reference used to indicate a relative position in a worksheet. It allows you to copy and
move formulas from one area to another of the same dimensions. Excel automatically changes the column
and row number to reflect the new position.
Absolute Cell Reference -- always cites a specific cell when the formula is copied.
- A cell reference that contains a dollar sign before the column letter and/or row number to indicate the
absolute, or fixed, contents of specific cells.
Example: the formula \$A\$1+\$B\$1 calculates only the sum of those specific cells no matter where
the formula is copied in the workbook.
Mixed Cell Reference -- a cell containing both a Relative Cell Reference and an Absolute Cell Reference.
Example: =B5*\$B\$12
Example: When copied, the Mixed Cell Reference C\$14 changes the column relative to its new locations
but prevents the row from changing.
