                     A total of 17 members and partners attended the annual Sloan Handicamp
BnB Roster           Dinner at the Pt Walter Recreation Camp on Tuesday 18th January.

Mike Raspa –         This was the 30th Handicamp since a much younger Ron Sloan borrowed the
Louise Raspa –       concept from Norway and organised the first Handicamp in Australasia in 1981. It
Grant Buxton –       is thought that our 1981Handicamp may have even been the first in the southern

                     hemisphere.

Phil Hinwood –       Handicamp has come a long way since then and is now replicated in many, many
Kay Hinwood –        Rotary Districts both in Australia and the region. It has been acknowledged as
                     one of the more successful Rotary programs in the former Districts 9460 and
6th FEB              9470and has now been adopted by the new District 9465. Plans are underway to

Evans – Ann Cotter   Tuesday night’s dinner was a very moving and rewarding experience with
– Lloyd Dungy –      campers and buddies spread throughout the dining area, mingling with the
Gordon Hamilton      diners. Each camper, accompanied by their buddy, was presented to the
                     assembly and several gave short speeches covering their own experience over
13th Feb             the first few days of the program. Very moving!

                     PDG Ron gave an excellent short history of the founding of Handicamp which
John Simpson –       was succinct and interesting. Not many dry eyes by the end of the night!
Ted Evans –          Thanks to those members who made the effort and travelled to Bicton for this
