 Political campaigns are like any other project. They are run by people organized in teams, and project
 management tools can be applied. In 2008, the presenter ran for State House of Representatives in South
 Carolina. This is the story of how Six Sigma style tools were used in the campaign process. See how Pareto
 charts, histograms, database information, and Excel spreadsheets are used where the rubber meets the road.

 Free Lunch and Learn Webinar – NCSU Campus Resources                                          Thursday, February 17, 2011

 NC State University has a large number of researchers and research facilities where collaborative projects could be
 beneficial to industry. If Industry knew about the resources available on campus, and there was an easy way for
 industry to be connected to these resources, the result could be more collaboration between industry and the
 university. The purpose of this presentation is to inform listeners of the opportunities to connect with resources on

 ASQ Raleigh Section is gathering to offer our time at the Food Bank of Eastern & Central North Carolina. We invite
 you to join us and give back to those who may not be as fortunate. Family and friends are welcome; children must
 be 12 or older and accompanied by an adult. Please register all volunteers so that we have an accurate headcount
 to give to the Food Bank.

 Potential Activities: Warehouse volunteers help to sort and repackage 40% of the Food Bank's warehouse
 inventory. We may help with: sorting fresh produce into smaller boxes; repackaging products from food
 manufacturers and distributors; and, putting bulk items into family size portions.

 Exam Preparation Courses –                                    See Dates and Locations below
 Certified Quality Auditor
 Certified Quality Engineering
 A Certified Quality Auditor course will be provided on Mondays and Thursdays from 6-9pm between May 2 and
 May 26 by John Works. Cost is $500 for ASQ members and $595 for non-ASQ members. The cost does not
 include the required or optional texts for the course. The course will be presented at Merck BioManufacturing
 Network in Morrisville. See the event registration for more details.

 A Certified Quality Engineer course will be provided on Saturdays, Mondays, and Wednesdays between April 23
 and May 11 by Robert Guzman. Cost is $850 for ASQ members and $950 for non-ASQ members, which includes
 the cost of required books. The course will be presented at NCSU Industrial Extension Services on the Centennial
 Campus in Raleigh. See the event registration for more details.

 ASQ Student Branch Counselor Needed
 The Raleigh Section Leadership Committee (LC) is looking for a Student Branch Counselor Volunteer. The
 volunteer would assist the LC with coordination and oversight of an ASQ Student Branch by serving as the liaison
 between the ASQ Raleigh Section and the Student branch. This is a great opportunity to help form a student
 section and to mentor student leaders in the management of the student branch. If you are a faculty member who
 is interested in this position or if you know a faculty member at any local college or university, please contact

 Frank Golden elected Region 11B Regional Director
 Frank Golden, past ASQ Raleigh chair and Quality in the Triangle Conference Chair and current Regional Director
 for ASQ Region 11B, has been re-elected as Regional Director. Congratulations, Frank! We look forward to
 continuing our interactions with you in this leadership role for our region!

 ASQ Raleigh Section 1113 earns Gold Excellence Award
 ASQ Raleigh has earned the Gold Quality Excellence Award for the 2009-2010 year by meeting requirements
 set by ASQ and objectives for member loyalty, satisfaction, and retention. In addition, we also earned the Total
 Quality Award for meeting at least 75% of our section goals for the 2009-2010 year (actual achievement level was

 The ASQ Inspection division is offering a $3,000 college scholarship and the Inspector of the Year Award. For
