Memory Game: I went to… In a group or class, choose a topic from a word web (for example, pirate). Tell everyone you are going to play a game listing items you might buy in a shop for pirates. The first player says, “I went to a pirate shop and bought a parrot.” The second player says, “I went to a pirate shop and bought a parrot and an eye patch.” Continue in the same way around the group, with each player repeating all the previous items and adding a new one. You can look at the word webs in your thesaurus for words to use, but you can also add your own ideas. If a player misses out an item from the list, or gets it wrong, they are out of the game. Continue until only one player is left — or until everyone has run out of ideas!
