Create Your Own Math Game
Fractions & Decimals Final Project
DUE: Nov. 12
With your partner(s), you will create a math game that relates to concepts
of fractions and decimals. Upon completion of this final project, you will
have a chance to try out some of your classmate’s games!
Please complete all the requirements below together:
Topics: Your game must include all of the following topics:
Fractions Decimals
___ Comparing and Order Fractions ___ Converting Fractions into

Fractions & Mixed Numbers
Create the following items for your game:
Theme: Create a theme for your game (sports, beach, under the sea, etc) ***
Math Directions: Clear, step by step directions on how to complete topics.
Game Directions: Clear, step-by-step, instructions on how to play the game. They
must include:
1. Number of players
2. Materials Included
3. Goal of the game
4. Step by step instructions
5. How a Player wins
6. Answer key included
Game Board
Design a colorful, neat chart or board with a start to finish, or any other place that your
players will use to play the game.
Game Pieces
Choose or create dice, pennies, rocks, paper pieces, tokens, etc that fit your theme.
*** 20 point Extra Credit Option: Choose a theme for your game that relates to a
Science or Social Studies topic you have been studying. Questions, board design, box,
and write-up must all relate to the theme chosen.
Top of Your Game Box
Create the packaging for your game. You will need to find some type of box (shoebox,
gift box, old cereal box, etc). If there is writing on the box, you will need to completely
cover it with construction paper. The outside of your box must include the follow items:
1. Name of your game, Number of Players, and Intended age of players
2. A catchy advertisement/slogan that would attract someone to play your
game. (EX: Pirate theme: “Arrrrr! Simplify thee’ fractions -- or prepare to walk the plank")
i. Other examples:
1. M & M’s - The milk chocolate that melts in your mouth - not in your hand."
2. Wheaties – “Breakfast of champions”
3. McDonalds – “I’m Lovin’ It”
4. Bounty Paper Towels – “The Quilted Quicker Picker-upper”
5. Doublemint Gum - "Double Your Pleasure, Double Your Fun"
3. 2 handwritten or typed reviews of the game
EX: Over 1 million sold…the best educational game to learn how to add fractions.
4. A picture or illustration that relates to your game. This might be a
picture of the game board, a picture or illustration of people playing your
game, etc…
5. A brief summary (3-5 sentences) of how the game is played, neatly
handwritten or typed.

know ahead of time so she can try to help you find them)
