GOVERNMENT BY INTIMIDATION AND WHAT IT MEANS

FOR YOUR FINANCIAL FUTURE

By David C. Grossack

As citizens we rely on government to provide services for us. Governments provide police

protection, keep foreign enemies away from our borders, extinguish fires, pave roads, run the

subways and administer the courts, for example.. They are entrusted to enact laws, enforce them

and to do what is best for society.

That is the propaganda the System wants you to believe.

Not only does the mission of government often turn into a farce by those who act for it,

government often shows signs of becoming a mean-spirited ruling elite that acts in its own

interests and which repeatedly traverses its constitutional and other lawful boundaries to oppress

and intimidate citizens. Government is, by its own actions, rapidly forfeiting its legitimacy and

credibility and earns less respect from the public each day. The worst enemies of society are not

in the Mafia, the biker gangs, Al Qaeda or any other shadowy grouping; it is Government itself

While examples are legion, one can see a pattern emerge from a number of actions by

Courts, regulatory agencies, police and political hacks that confirm this view.

Let’s start with a story about a relatively small case that perhaps epitomizes how

government works.

A few years ago a story appeared in the press about the arrest and prosecution of a

Cincinnati grandmother for a funny kind of obstruction of justice. Sylvia Slayton saw that a

number of motorists were in jeopardy of being ticketed for overstaying on their metered parking

spots.

In compassion for her fellow and sister drivers, she put change in several meters and got

herself arrested. She was given the choice of paying a fine of $750.00 or serving 90 days in jail

simply because her kindness cost the City of Cincinnati money. (1)

Every once in a while we read about somebody who is jailed for not mowing his lawn, or

fined for having too many Christmas decorations or having a sign on the lawn. Some towns have

laws that require all houses to be painted the same color, supposedly based on covenants

contained in deeds.

(2) Municipal bullies are perhaps the most loathsome kind of bullies because they are closest to

us. Who has not heard of an unreasonable building inspector , no doubt seeking cash or a sexual

favor, preventing an addition from being built so that Grandma can spend her last years with her

children and grandkids?

Who has not heard of some zoning horror story where by a tiny home business or bible

study group was shut down for some absurdly applied by-law that the municipal masters lorded

over the public?

Sometimes it gets silly, and silly gets very harrowing and expensive.

“Somebody” in the home of marketing whiz Russell Reeves in Hingham, Massachusetts

was using his computer one night and decided to spoof a local politician, inventing an e-mail

address that contained her name.(3)

The e-mail stated that the politician had changed her mind about a ballot referendum issue.

It was a prank directed at a politician, a public figure. Reeves was charged with identity theft.

Thousands of dollars in legal bills later, the identity theft charge was dropped, but the message is

clear. Using your keyboard to spoof a politician may not be constitutionally protected in

Hingham, Massachusetts. The local prosecutors also charged Reeves with the obscure law of

making it illegal to make a false statement to influence a political campaign. The incredibly

tyrannical statute was declared constitutional by the judge in Hingham, even though similar laws

have been declared unconstitutional in other states. Thankfully, the charge was continued

without a finding and is scheduled to be dismissed.

More tragic was the case of Bruce Barron. More precisely, the wrongful death case of Bruce

Barron. Mr. Barron was a lawyer in New Hampshire who fell behind with his taxes. An IRS

agent by the name of Donna Greeley hounded him so badly he blew his brains out. He left

behind a note telling his wife to use the insurance proceeds to sue the IRS. She did. The IRS

reportedly settled for the sum of one million dollars. Greeley had, among other things, contacted

all of Barron’s clients and demanded they pay their fees owed to Barron directly to the IRS,

financially ruining him and embarrassing him. (4)

Donald Scott was another hardworking America citizen whose success brought horror from

government to his family. This successful businessman owned a 200 acre ranch on some of the

world’s most valuable land, located in Malibu, California. Los Angles County wanted the land

and concocted a plan to seize it under the forfeiture laws. Despite having no evidence, they

decided they would raid the home to search for evidence that Scott had a secret marijuana farm.

Sophisticated aerial cameras could find no trace of dope on his land, but that did not stop the Los

Angles Sheriffs. They conducted a full scale home invasion together with the Drug Enforcement

Administration and pulled weapons on his wife. He heard her screams and came down the stairs

with his own gun, and was shot dead.(5)

An independent investigation conducted by law enforcement men from another county

determined that the raid’s entire purpose was to seize the family’s ranch under the forfeiture

laws. They even discovered that the LA Sheriffs took photographs of themselves at the ranch

celebrating their killing of Mr. Scott. The family sued, but this observer would describe their

court “victory” as pyrrhic. It took several years and 13 lawyers to recover a settlement, which

was high for most Americans, but was not a great amount for the Scott family and which will

never compensate for their loss. The LA sheriff who was exposed as organizing the vile raid

sued his critics for libel. He lost. (4) The family lost the ranch and is in financial difficulty,

lawyers’ fees gobbling up the settlement.

William Moore of Dallas, Texas learned that lobbying for a government contract could be

hazardous to his personal liberty.

In the midst of a dispute over the contract, the Texas businessman, who was a pioneer in the

development of intelligent scanning devices that could read and track zip codes, found himself

literally framed for fraud charges. He beat the case and was able to prove it was a frame up. The

prosecutor was quoted as saying “ I don’t care if he is innocent or not, I have a career to

consider”

Witnesses and evidence were manipulated, but they picked the wrong victim. Moore had the

resources to fight back and even was able to sue the prosecutor as well as the postal officials. But

he and his family were put through hell.(5)

A business promoter we know in Salt Lake City wanted to give away hundreds of shares of

stock in start up companies to folks belonging to Mormon Churches around the country.

Securities regulators harassed him for merely making the gifts, saying the stock was not

registered properly and could not even be gifted. The overregulation of this field is a story in

itself, but suffice to say the stock regulators are among the worst bullies the American

bureaucracy has produced.

We know that in every city and town in America rogue cops and bureaucrats harass

helpless and innocent people. They steal, frame people, rape and extort. It is business as usual,

and the courts will aid and abet it.. It is documented in thousands of court cases every year.

We know that our politicians are less than useless. People without money and without

resources have no say, and our vote is usually meaningless because there are no meaningful

elections and very few meaningful choices, because good candidates are rarely allowed to win.

Meanwhile, the American oligarchy has created a widespread dossier and surveillance

state.

Under Project Echelon, phone calls are regularly monitored. E-mails, Google searches and

fax transmissions are routed and preserved in huge archives that are available for inspection any

time some government prosecutor wants to make a case against you. (6)

Many public places, and private business establishments, have constant surveillance

cameras which are available for review when the powers that be need them. Go to a Taco Bell,

and you are on TV. Optical wiretaps even allow the government to use your cable box to spy

on you .(7)

Huge “ data mining” operations profile you by your video tape rentals, library books,

periodical subscriptions, credit card bills and any other databases they can access. People who

think know that we are traveling on the fast lane to a fascist state where corporations rule and

the constitution is mostly for show.

The citizen’s relationship with government as we are getting to experience it is analogous

to the frog in the pot of water. As the pot is gradually heated, the frog takes no action. He is

basically comfortable, and the water gets slowly warmer and warmer. Soon it gets uncomfortably

hot. But by the time he is ready to jump out, he gets boiled and goes to his reward.

When some politicians talk about change, they don’t mean protecting our rights or easing

our burdens. They plan on making things worse.

We have to recognize that our political and social environments, because of bad

government, are deteriorating and we must take action to do whatever is needed to make We the

People sovereign in this land. This means activism. It means demonstrating and sit-ins when

injustice happens. It means becoming radical and vocal, exposing the System’s bad behavior in

public meetings, on community access cable , through fax relay networks, ham radios, whatever

it takes, including outright civil disobedience.

Citizens who know their rights and who understand the workings of government and police

at all levels are best able to prepare themselves. For example, knowing your legal rights is

incredibly important such as basic information about asset protection, forfeiture laws, criminal

law and governmental liability. When you don’t learn your rights, you might as well not have

any.

As an investor, entrepreneur or property owner, the consequences of the deterioration of justice

in this country can mean disaster, or they can be mean opportunity.

If you are prosperous , you should consider international diversification of your assets. Because

governments everywhere are predators to a certain decree, shielding some of your wealth by

placing it in an offshore bank account, trust or corporation may be prudent. Instead of owning

several homes in the United States, such locations as the Caribbean, Belize, Monaco or

elsewhere may be prudent choices for property.

Moving your business or part of your business to an offshore location may also make sense as

America deteriorates further and further. As Americans and their lawyers cannibalize

themselves further and further with devastating lawsuits and legal bills, the need for careful

planning and consideration is vital. A simple signature of a judge on a writ, or a tax official on a

summons or lien, can mean the end of what you have worked a lifetime to provide for your

family.

A very small amount of advance preparation will usually save everything.

The time for complacency is over.
