Satellite television is a broadcasting platform where the TV programs are broadcasted by communication satellites. The TV signals from the satellites are received by a circular shaped antenna, which is also referred as dish TV antenna. The signals from the dish antenna are then transferred to the set top box or satellite receiver. From this device the signals are transmitted to the TV set. So here you can see that a typical satellite television kit contains two important components. One is the satellite receiver and the other one is the satellite receiver. Dish antennas play a major role in this TV broadcasting platform. Previously these things were made from costly metal units. They also used to be big in size and weighing almost a ton. This advanced compression technology is used for streaming video contents to the small screen devices such as personal computers, mobiles and PDA devices. This technology is highly efficient and is capable of generating brilliant images. In dish TV systems, there are five major components. They are the programming source, broadcast center, satellite, dish antenna and the satellite receiver. Programming source is actually referred to the channels that contain TV programs for broadcast. The TV contents are developed by some of the leading channel companies like HBO, ESPN, CNN, etc. Direct to Home or DTH service providers pay certain amount of fees to the channel companies to earn the right to broadcast the content via satellite. The next major component of DTH TV is broadcast center. It is the main control center of direct to home television platform. The signals from various programming source makes it entry to this place in the first stage. After that the signals are then released to geosynchronous satellites in space. The next component is the geosynchronous satellites whose jobs are to receiver the signals from the broadcast station and resend it to Earth. The last two components are the satellite receiver and the dish antenna. The job of a dish antenna is to get the signals from the satellites and the job of a receiver is to process the signals and transmit that to a TV set. This is how satellite TV works.
