Open First Class
You will get a screen that looks like this:
Type in your user ID number and your password; then hit “Login”
Once you login you will get a screen (Called the “desktop”) that looks like this

There will be several folders in your main screen. The most important is
your mailbox.

Click on the MailBox Folder
You will get a screen that looks like this

The top of the screen has the following icons on the toolbar
Write Mail New Folder Find Contact List
History Trash/Delete Directory
Write Mail will allow you to write an e-mail
New Folder allows you to create a new folder to store e-mails in
New
Folder
o Drag the e-mail into the newly created folder
o If you make a mistake drag the e-mail in the new folder back into the
e-mail list
You can re-order your e-mails by clicking on Name, Subject, Last Modified,
etc.

History allows you to see what time the person picks up your e-mail (if they
are on Jamestown’s e-mail; otherwise, you can just see what time it was
routed to a person’s e-mail account—for example, if they are using AOL)
Trash/Delete allows you to delete mail; to click on multiple e-mails hit Shift
+ the mouse button to highlight them and then hit delete/trash
If you accidentally delete a piece of mail, go to ViewShow Deleted mail
while you are in the mail folder
o Then click on the piece of mail that you trashed
o Click the control button while clicking the mouse
o You will get a sub-menu that will allow you to undelete the e-mail
o NOTE: You can only undelete e-mail for that day
Find allows you to search for a term
Directory allows you to search for people to whom you want to write an e-mail
After opening an e-mail that you wish to respond to, you will get the
following toolbar at the top of that message

Message Reply ALL Quote History Trash/Delete Find
Up One
Unsend Reply to Forward Print Level
Sender
o Choose the appropriate command button
o Up One Level goes back to the mail folder
o To send something with a priority go to MessagePriority

o To send an e-mail Priority Urgent click on this menu while creating an
e-mail, but be sure not to overuse this command
o To insert a signature go EditInsertInsert Signature
o To create a signature, click on the Preferences icon on the main screen (with
all the folders in it)
o Go to the Messaging tab
o Next go to the Signature tab
o Create the signature text and check if you want it automatically
added or not
o Click on Apply

To change the font of your e-mail go to the Preferences icon on the main
screen
o Go the Content tab
o Choose the font, size, and color you want for your e-mails
o Click on Apply
If you are going to be away for awhile and want to forward your e-mail to
your own e-mail account you can do that as well
o Go to the Preferences icon on the main screen
o Choose the Messaging tab
o Choose the Mail Rules tab
o Type in the Forward to: box your e-mail address
o Forward local mail and internet mail
o Choose Forward as the Method

To create a personal contact list, follow two steps
o The first step is to add the person to the directory if necessary
o You can add a person by clicking on Contact DatabaseCreate New
Personal Address (first icon)

o If you don’t need to add people to your list, you can go right to the
next step
o Go to Contact DatabaseCreate New Mailing List (second icon)
o Choose the people from the directory
o Click on OK
Attachments
o Click on the paper clip to attach a file
o Double click on the attachment sent with an e-mail to open it
From home, the address is this:

Click on the second icon from the left, which will be Desktop
