AFTER SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETING THE PHOTOGRAPHY CLASS, THE
STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO:
Compare photography as a fine art compared to other fine arts media and
art forms.
Identify the parts of a 35mm manual camera.
Explain how all the parts of the camera work.
Roll your own film into the reusable film container, load into your camera,
set up the photograph, focus, set the correct exposure, and shoot the
photograph.
Rewind the film and remove from the camera. Then load into the film
developing tank in complete darkness. Develop the film using D-76 1:1,
H2O, fixer, hypo-clear, and photo-flo.
Evaluate the various media, techniques, and subject matter to determine
where your true passion lies.
Judge your own artwork and try to determine what your recognizable style
is.
Analyze your art works and decide the best media, subject, and techniques to
use to create an in-depth independent study of works.
Analyze the photograph related careers which are in the jobs advertisement
in the newspaper.
Investigate a career which seems most appropriate for you by researching
and interviewing professionals and find answers to the following concerns:
where are the jobs, what do they pay ,what do I need to know, where can I
get the knowledge, what experience is needed, what sacrifices are needed
Write a portfolio piece about your job investigation.
Develop a contact sheet of your negatives to evaluate are worth enlarging.
After assessing your contact sheet, develop some prints which are
enlargements.
Hand color some of your photographs by selectively enhancing certain areas
of the print.
Evaluate your and classmates’ photographs.
Compose ten self—portraits based on a scanned photograph.
Manipulate images with the Adobe Photoshop software.
Electronically attach your head to the body of an animal.
Create a litho based on an original black and white photograph.
Compose a complementary color design with the digi-paint or deluxe-paint
III program.
Design a tabloid mutant including text.
Using the Painter software and the Wacom drawing pad, create a self
portrait painting or drawing.
Create a photogram and a shadowgram.
Compare your images which address the following assignments: pressure,
juxtaposition, series of 5 push of 5, vignette, color slides, solarized image.
Compose a photo collage of you over the years.
Research surreal artists and photographers such as Dali, Tooker and
Ulesman; create an original surreal image.
Design a CD cover including image and text.
Photograph your face, split it down the center, and make yourself
symmetrical.
Create a pictorial family tree.
Incorporate your image into a famous art work, athlete, or musician.
Repair an old ruined photograph.
Create a single color high contrast silk screen print.
Design a multi-colored silkscreen.
