Speaker is Satisfied with progress of new building
The Speaker of the National Assembly, Dr. Patrick Herminie is impressed
with the progress made on the new National Assembly building which is
currently under construction at Ile du Port.
The remark was made following the official visit of the Speaker to the
site, on Wednesday 18 march. Speaker Herminie was accompanied by
the Clerk to the National Assembly, Mrs. Marie Nella Azemia and other
staff of the Secretariat.
The construction work on the building started in August last year after
the laying of the foundation stone in March the same year. The building
is expected to be completed by September this year. The Speaker said
that if all goes well the next State of the Nation Address will be heard in
the new building.
An official delegation headed by Speaker Herminie is currently on an
official visit to Beijing, China. Apart from attending high level meetings,
the delegation is also expected to visit the factory supplying furniture for
the new building. This project is worth a million yuan and is also being
funded by the Chinese government.
