					FIELD INFORMATION REPORT
DEVELOPMENT OF TOWNSHIP (BENAZIR TOWN)

     With reference to the Chief Ministers summary in continuance with the Presidential directives and under the
     mandate given to SLMDC by the Sindh Government, and for planning the proposed Township (Benazir Town) in
     area of your jurisdiction, you are requested to provide assistance in collecting data, required for quantifying the
     needs of the project. Please add extra sheets of paper if necessary.

     It is assumed that all information can be easily acquired from various sources/ departments within the district.
     We urge you to respond with whatever information is reasonably available, without waiting for information
     that might delay your response. Technical teams from SLMDC may also arrange visits to the project sites for
     which your coordination shall be highly appreciated.



a. PROJECT AREA BASIC IDENTIFICATION

   1 Name of District / Town / Taluka
     Keamari, Karachi

   2 A brief description of the climate, temperatures, winds and rainfall in the District
     Karachi is located on the coast and as a result has a relatively mild climate. Karachi has two main
     seasons; Summer & Winter, while spring and autumn are very short.
     Temperatures averages: 14C to 33C
     Highest Recorded Temperature: 47C
     Lowest rainfall: 0.00 mm in May
     Highest rainfall: 66.4mm in July
     Wind speeds average: 3.5 m/s

   3 Descriptive geographic Location of Proposed Project and distances from other major urban centres,
     please provide a sketch. (A map using Google Earth shall be preferred)
     800 acres from NC # 103 in Deh Mindiari, Keamari, karachi
     200 acres from NC # 104 in Deh Mindiari, Keamari, karachi
     The project site is at a distance of xx kms from Hawks Ba, Karachi

     of the project land.

   5 If there are any sketches, maps, coordinates (UTM system), boundary surveys available, please attach
     copies.
   6 Please provide a description/ visual observation of the proposed land in terms of natural features,
     mentioning approximate slopes, valleys, ridges, waterways etc
     The project site is situated on both sides of the road which connects hawks bay with Soneri beach.The
     site area starts as the road passes through the Laal Bhakkar Mountain Range. The land area on the
     eastern side of the road starts approximately 100m from the northern foot hills of the mountain
     range.The land slopes are towards the south side and a topographic survey shall show the gradient.
     Visual inspection shows an approximate difference of 40feet between the highest and lowest point.

      The land on the western side of the road is very close to the mountain and gradually the distance
      between the road and the mountain increases, provided plain land with gradual slops.

      Natural water ways exist at two places within the land area starting from the northern mountains
      going towards south est

   7 Please provide a description/ visual observation of the proposed land in terms of man made features,
     buildings, obstructions to future development or encroachments if any.
     There are about sites of 50 poultry farms on both sides of the road.
     10 are active, while 20 are inactive and 10 are partly dismantled
     New 5 are being constructed
     A list of existing leases in the project area is attached

   8 Have any future allotments/ temporary leases been officially ceased for the proposed project land

      Official letters of cancellation have been issued to all temporary leases/ poultry farms

   9 Have any previous temporary leases been cancelled/ or cancellation process started, List all such
     instances/ leases

  10 Please mention any possibility of archaeological ruins in the area or near the area of the project

      None

  11 Please mention any lawsuits/ hinerances/ stays/ restraining orders/ legal hitches in the title/ posession
     of the land designated for the project.
     None

  12 Please provide a description of any environmental issues in the project area
     No drinking water and poor sewerage treatment of sewage or industrial wastes may lead to unhealthy
     living conditions. Livelihood of towns around the area is based on fishing. Disposal of untreated water
     from the sewerage, water treatment plants or new industrial initiatives in the sea will affect the
     marine life and ultimately the livelihood of the people in the area.

  13 Please provide a description of any natural habitat issues in the project area
     None

b. DEMOGRAPHICS
    1 Population of the District
      The city has an estimated population of 16 million.
   2 What is the average number of "persons/ family" in the district
     Six

   3 Is there an existing study/ statistic that shows the shortfall in housing needs in the district.
     Information shall be provided later

   4 Are there any shanty towns/ villages in the area and how many people live in them
     5-6 villages exist in a perimeter of 5 km of the project area
     Approximately 500 persons live in the 5 villages, namely Deh Allah bano, Deh xyz, deh abc, deh 123,
     deh 345

   5 How many existing families in nearby villages or shanty towns are deserving/ proposed to be allotted
     plots in the new project
     100,000

   6 What percentage of families are expected to relocate from nearby villages or shanty towns to the
     proposed project
     20% (Estimate based on abcdefgh), More information shall be provided later

   7 What percentage of the population in the district falls in the category of low income persons (poorest
     of the poor)
     25% (Estimated based on abcdefgh), More information shall be provided later

c. FACILITIES/ UTILITIES
    1 Please provide a description about adequacy of existing potable water resources which are available
      or can be made available for the proposed project (please provide distances from project area)

     There are no existing potable water sources within an distance of 5kms

   2 Please provide a description about adequacy of existing electricity resources which are available or can
     be made available for the proposed project
     There are no existing electricity connections within a distance of 5kms

   3 Please provide a description about adequacy of existing sewerage disposal resources which are
     available or can be made available for the proposed project
     There are no existing sewerage treatment plants within a distance of 10kms

   4 Please provide a description about adequacy of solar or wind energy resources which are available or
     can be made available for the proposed project
     There are no existing solar energy facilities within an area of 15kms

   5 Please provide a description about adequacy of telecommuncation resources which are available or
     can be made available for the proposed project
     There are no existing telecommunication facilities within an area of 15kms

   6 Please propose sources of potable water for the proposed project
      The RO plant near the Nasir Hotel at the intersection of Hawks Bay Road/ Soneri Beach Road can be
      used to provide water during construction phases. For the actual residential scheme, 10,000 plots, a
      population of 60,000 is expected and a low water demand of approximately 5 million litres/ day is
      anticipated.A self reliant water source can be installed after checking water table levels, soil
      investigation of the area, historic data and distances from sea.

   7 Please propose sources of electricty for the proposed project
     A new grid station is proposed

   8 Please propose sources of existing sewerage for the proposed project
     A new sewerage treatment plant is proposed

   9 Please propose sources of any other alternate energy means for the proposed project
     There is adequate wind and sun available year round to install solar energy or wind energy production
     units

  10 Please propose sources of adequate other telecommunications means for the proposed project

      No coverage for cell phones except Ufone
      Nearest Telecom/ Land line available at 14 kms

  11 Please provide information about underground water in the project area
     Land is mostly Rocky, no histoiric data found.
     Water wells dug by inhabitants in the vicinity to a depth of 15m provide brackish water at a rate of
     15litres/ min

  12 Please provide a sketch of the project area showing locations and distances of proposed sources of
     water and electricity and other facilities for the project
     Map attached showing location of nearest power grid station, RO plant, HT line, LT line
