OVERVIEW       The Montauk Yacht Club Resort & Marina is serenely situated on 35-acres of
               scenic waterfront property at the East End of Long Island, New York where it
               has been the preferred playground for a who’s who of visitors since famed
               entrepreneur Carl Fisher built the original clubhouse in 1929. After a
               multimillion dollar redesign and renovation in 2009, the world-class property
               features 107 guest rooms; 23 Villa Cottages; 232- slip full-service, mega-yacht
               Marina; fine dining and cocktails at the Gulf Coast Kitchen, Hurricane Alley,

MARINA         A first-class 232-slip marina, the Montauk Yacht Club Resort & Marina has

Private Surf Lessons
A standard 1-on-1 surf lesson is perfect for anyone that wants to learn how to surf. We give
lessons to complete beginners as well as intermediate surfers in the gentle Montauk surf. There
are plenty of ideal beginner surf breaks in Montauk.

Semi-Private and Group Lessons
A group lesson is perfect for 2 or more people who want to learn how to surf. Group surf lessons
are great if you do not need as much 1-on-1 personal attention for an hour surf lesson. With our
number of surf instructors we can accommodate any kind of group lesson.

Private Parties and Corporate Events
Our surf instructors are trained to handle any type of surf party. Programming can be tailored for
time length and activities, including surfing, stand-up paddle boarding, and kayaking. Whether
you have a bachelorette party of 10 women, a birthday party with 30 kids, or a corporate function
of 100 employees, we can accommodate your group.

Surf Clinic
The 2 hour surf clinic lasts from 2pm-4pm on weekdays and functions as a group lesson. The Surf
Clinic will focus on surfing on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and on stand-up paddle
boarding on Tuesday and Thursday. Beach and lake locations will be flexible for the Surf Clinic
will be flexible and dependent on conditions.

Stand-up Paddle Lessons
Stand-up paddle boarding has become very popular throughout the surfing community as a
timeless Hawaiian tradition. The waves in Montauk are perfect for the beginner paddle boarder.
The first lesson begins on the lake and then proceeds to ocean and wave riding lessons as ability
develops.

Group Stand-up Paddle Lessons
Group stand-up paddle boarding is great because big groups paddling together means that much
more fun. We can have stand-up paddle groups up to 10 people.

Sunset Paddle
The sunset paddle tour starts at the Montauk Yacht Club select nights at 6:30 pm. This hour-long
paddle tours beautiful Lake Montauk while the sun goes down over the Long Island Sound. This
tour is an unforgettable experience.
Kayak Tours with Guide
Go out with one of our experienced kayak guides. The tour starts at the Montauk Yacht Club and
will follow one of our 10 tour plans. Paddles range from a mellow 1 hour paddle tour to an
extensive 3 hour tour of the lake.

Kayak Lessons
Go out with one of our experienced kayak guides. Learn the basic kayaking techniques while
enjoying the beautiful scenery of Lake Montauk.

Sunset Kayak Tour
The sunset paddle tour starts at the Montauk Yacht Club select nights at 6:30 pm. This hour-long
paddle tours beautiful Lake Montauk while the sun goes down over the Long Island Sound. This
tour is an unforgettable experience.

Kite Boarding
For a more intense water sports experience, try kite boarding. Our local trainer will do either half
or full day sessions. The half day lesson is a 4 hour session, and the full day is 6 hours of intense
training. Be prepared, kite boarding is an extreme sport.

10 Things You Didn’t Know About Montauk

President George Washington commissioned the Montauk Lighthouse in 1792 making it the
oldest operating lighthouse in New York State.

The Montauk Project was alleged to be a series of secret United States government projects
conducted at Camp Hero or Montauk Air Force Station on Montauk, Long Island for the purpose
of developing psychological warfare techniques and exotic research including time travel. As a
result, the Barracuda bar at the Montauk Yacht Club offers the Black Hole cocktail sure to induce
time travel hallucinations when consumed en masse. Recipe: 1 oz black sambuca1 oz amber rum
top with Coca-Cola; Stir the black sambuca and amber rum together in a cocktail glass over
crushed or shaven ice. Add Coca-cola to taste, and serve.

Charles Lindbergh often flew his seaplane into the harbor to dock at the Montauk Yacht Club
marina.

It is approximately 1400 miles between Montauk, NY and Miami Beach, FL. Carl Fisher was
instrumental in the development of both cities.

Travelers interested in surfing don’t need to bring gear. Montauk’s Air & Speed Board Shop will
rent travelers surf boards and set up lessons during the visit.

Montauk is featured in the movie “The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” starring Jim
Carrey and Kate Winslet.

The oldest cattle ranch in the US was started in 1747, on Montauk.

Montauk’s Culloden point is named for a British Revolutionary Warship that sunk in the area.
The cannons can be viewed in about 15' of water and the site is a registered historic site.

Original supermodel Cheryl Tiegs married Peter Beard at the Montauk Presbyterian Church in
Montauk, New York. An image of the couple on their wedding day appears in the book "The
Photographs of Ron Galella, 1965-1989", by Ron Galella.

The character Quint in the movie “Jaws” was inspired by the late Frank Mundus, a Montauk
fishing legend. In 1986 he and another charter captain, Donnie Braddick, caught a 3,427-pound
great white shark off of Montauk. To date, it is still listed as the largest fish ever caught on rod
and reel.

BY TRAIN: The Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) brings guests directly to the train station built
for the original Montauk Yacht Club members. MYC will make all the necessary arrangements
to pick guest’s up in our exclusive shuttle.

One of the most popular rail options available, perfect for a weekend getaway is “The
Cannonball” – the premier express train service offered by Long Island Rail Road. Serving
eastbound travelers for more than 100 years, the Cannonball Leaves Penn Station Fridays at 3:58
PM, changing at Jamaica Station at 4:25 PM and then running express to the Hamptons. The
Cannonball is reportedly the most popular train offered by Long Island Rail Road. After allowing
connecting customers to hop on board at Jamaica, this train speeds out to the Hamptons arriving
just in time for Happy Hour.
The Cannonball is one of the few trains that offers Hamptons Reserve Service. Riders enjoy a
smooth and comfortable ride in bi-level air-conditioned coaches with ergonomic two-by-two

At Hunterspoint Avenue: The Cannonball train departs at 4:06 PM. Please walk forward to the
first cars of the train.

At Penn Station: A special connecting Montauk train departs at 3:58 PM. Please walk to the
middle of the train for a smooth transition to a seat on the Cannonball at Jamaica.


BY HELICOPTER: US Helicopter (www.flyush.com) offers fast, glamorous and luxurious
transport between Manhattan and East Hampton in Long Island. With US Helicopter, passengers
enjoy a 35 minute express flight high above the traffic. The service is available for charter, plus
US Helicopter operates scheduled seasonal service for your convenience. Seasonal service
includes: two flights from Manhattan to East Hampton on Friday afternoons and a return trip on
Sunday evenings. The Schedule for 2008 is effective from July 11 to September 28.

BY FERRY: Viking Ferries (www.vikingfleet.com) offers traditional and high speed seasonal
ferry options to and from Montauk, Block Island, Martha's Vineyard and New London, CT. CT
Travelers may also take advantage of the Cross Sound Ferry (www.longislandferry.com) from
New London to Orient Point - crossing over Shelter Island North Ferry (www.northferry.com)
and South Ferry (www.southferry.com) via Rt. 114 to Rt. 27 East (Montauk Highway).
BY CAR:
From New York City

    1.   Take the Long Island Expressway (I-495) East to Exit 70
    2.   Take Exit 70 (Route 111 - Manorville) South to Route 27 East towards Montauk
    3.   Stay on Route 27 East through The Hamptons through the village of Montauk
    4.   Remain on Route 27 to West Lake Drive (CR 77), which is 1.4 miles past the center of
         town
    5.   Watch for Montauk Harbor sign and brown sign for Montauk Downs State Park
    6.   Turn Left onto West Lake Drive - CR 77
    7.   Travel 1.8 miles to Star Island Road. Watch for 30 m.p.h. speed limit sign with U.S.
         Coast Guard emblem at the base of the sign
    8.   Turn Right onto Star Island Road
    9.   Follow Star Island Road, past Snug Harbor Motel/Marina to Montauk Yacht Club.

From Northern New Jersey or Upstate New York

    1.   Take the George Washington Bridge to the Cross Bronx Expressway eastbound.
    2.   Follow the Cross Bronx Expressway to the Throgs Neck Bridge.
    3.   Cross the Throgs Neck Bridge into Queens to the Clearview Expressway
    4.   Take Clearview to LI Expressway (I-495) towards eastern LI and proceed as above

From Staten Island, Central, or Southern New Jersey

    1. Take Goethals Bridge or Outerbridge from New Jersey to Staten Island
    2. Follow the Staten Island Expressway to the Verrazano Narrows Bridge into Brooklyn
    3. From the bridge, connect with the Belt Parkway eastbound, past JFK Airport to the
       Southern State (SO) Parkway eastbound.
    4. Continue on Southern State to Exit 44E - Route 27 (Montauk) and proceed as above

BY PLANE: If you are traveling by air, schedule your flights into New York’s Major Airports:
LaGuardia (LGA), John F. Kennedy (JFK), Islip Mac Arthur (ISP) where car rental and public
transportation options are available.
