1. RECITE the four weapons safety Rules
2. IDENTIFY and DESCRIBE the characteristics for the different types of ammunition used for the
M16(series) rifle:
• Dummy
• Ball
• Tracer
• Frangible
• Blank
• Grenade
3. DEMONSTRATE procedures for verifying that the M16(series) rifle is clear and safe.
4. IDENTIFY the M16(series) Rifle's selector lever positions and their affect on the firing modes.
• “Safe” position.
• “Semi” position.
• “Burst” position.
5. DESCRIBE the front and rear sights on the M16(series) rifle
6. DEMONSTRATE procedures for setting the sights on the M16(series) rifle
7. DEMONSTRATE the procedures for loading the M16(series) Magazine. (Using Dummy rounds only)
8. DEMONSTRATE the procedures for loading the M16(series) rifle. (Using Dummy Rounds only)
9. DEMONSTRATE the standard method of carry for the M16(series) rifle. (Using Dummy Rounds only)
10. DEMONSTRATE the procedure for firing the M16(series) rifle from the loaded magazine/empty chamber
condition. (Using Dummy rounds only)
11. DEMONSTRATE the un-loading procedures for the M16(series) rifle from both the empty and loaded
chamber conditions. (Using Dummy rounds only)
12. DEMONSTRATE the procedures for ensuring the M16(series) rifle is un-loaded, clear, and safe.
13. DEMONSTRATE emergency procedures for the M16(series) rifle (Using Dummy Rounds only):
• Misfire
• Bolt not fully forward
• Double Feed
• Stove Pipe (Failure to Eject)
• Magazine not fully inserted
14. Field Strip the M16(series) rifle. Follow disassembly instruction steps through removing charging handle
(DO NOT disassemble the bolt) and IDENTIFY the following components:
• Upper Receiver Assembly
o Rear sight
o Front sight
o Forward assist
o Ejection port
o Charging handle
• Lower Receiver Assembly
o Selector lever
o Magazine release
o Bolt catch/bolt release
• Bolt and Bolt Carrier
• Magazine assembly
15. DEMONSTRATE re-assembly procedures for rifle.
16 DEMONSTRATE safety and function check for the rifle.
