Bayard’s Douglas M. Hershman Selected as General Counsel to the Delaware Apartment Association

WILMINGTON, Del. – May 18, 2011 – Bayard P.A. announced today that Douglas M. Hershman, a
director with the firm and Chair of its Executive and Associates committees, has been selected as general
counsel to the Delaware Apartment Association. As general counsel, he will provide advice and service to
the Association regarding legal matters.

Association. “He is an experienced attorney recognized for business and real estate prowess. Doug will
be a tremendous asset to us.”

A director at Bayard for more than ten years, Hershman leads the firm’s diverse real estate practice,
representing clients engaged in all aspects of the real estate industry throughout Delaware and its
surrounding states. His practice includes representations of both buyers and sellers of commercial and
residential real estate, as well as borrowers in financing transactions. Hershman also represents lenders
making commercial real estate loans.

Hershman been recognized as a leading attorney in the field of real estate law by Chambers USA (2006
through 2010), Delaware Super Lawyers (2007 through 2010), and Lawdragon 3000 (2006 through
2011).
Hershman is actively involved in the Delaware community. He is an active member of the Delaware State
Bar Association’s Real and Personal Property Section, serving for many years on the Section’s Executive
Committee and three terms as its Chair. Hershman currently is a Life Director of the Home Builders
Association of Delaware, Immediate Past Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Better Business
Bureau of Delaware, and a Board Member of both the Delaware Military Academy and the Wilmington
Economic Development Corporation (WEDCO). Hershman is Vice President/President Elect and a
member of the Board of Governors of the University & Whist Club of Wilmington, Delaware. He also
serves as a volunteer arbitrator for the Better Business Bureau’s binding arbitration program for real
estate disputes.

The Delaware Apartment Association (DAA) is a non-profit trade organization representing multi-family
housing owners, managers, and developers in New Castle, Kent, and Sussex Counties. It was formed in
