Delaware River Keeper
• The Delaware river keeper was
established in 1988 and is part of the
American littoral society.
• They Protect and defend the Delaware
River through advocacy and enforcement,
Monitor the health of our waterways,
Restore damaged streams and
ecosystems, Ensure that the voice of the
River is heard.
Delaware River Keeper
• They have trained over 300 volunteer's, provided hands-
on stewardship opportunities at 16 sites in the Delaware
watershed, Engaged students with on-the-ground
education and stewardship work.
• Their legal team has;
• Stopped the destruction of wetlands and secured their
permanent protection.
• Prevented numerous illegal discharges into the Delaware
and its tributaries.
• Protected several communities, and the Delaware, from
the effects of urban sprawl.

• In a single project in 2005, volunteers
• Spent more than 120 hours of personal
time,
• Assessing 123 specific reaches of stream
and adjacent watersheds ,
• Resulting in 14 miles of stream corridor
prioritized for restoration or protection.
Delaware Water Keeper
• Since 2003, we have
• Restored more than 12 mi. of riparian and
tidal habitats covering some 418 acres.
• Improved the management of another 20
miles of riparian corridor.
• Assessed and surveyed more than a
dozen dams for restoration or removal.
