II. A CALL TO CONSISTENCY
2CORINTHIANS 6:1
A. Greek word used for
“VAIN”!
1. kenos ken-os' =
vessels which contain
nothing
2. Careful not to take
grace for granted.
3. Two ways grace can
be "squandered"!
a) 2Corinthians 6:2
(1) satan's time =
tomorrow!
(a) Motto - "Put it
off 'til tomorrow."
(i) In vain” when
without fresh anointing.
(a) “vain” = “an empty
vessel”.
(b) Matthew 6:11
(i) Filled constantly
with love of the
Lord!
(ii) Verse 2
(a) (satan will say,
"Do it tomorrow!"
(b) Unsaved hearing
put it off.
b) 2Corinthians 6:3
(1) Dissipate grace to
live in sin and failure!
(2) The Law gave no
"heart" to perform.
(a) Grace compels us
to greater level of
consistency!
(b) Honoring the Lord
top of our list.
B. Real life situations - the
Lord's grace " sufficient.”

III. 2CORINTHIANS 6:4-6

1. Tribulations = "trials
under pressure"
2. Needs = necessities
3. Distresses = "no
visible escape"
4. Stripes = "physical
punishment"
5. Imprisonments
6. Tumults = riots
7. Labors = "serving to
point of exhaustion".
8. Sleeplessness = all
night prayer vigils.
9. Fastings = willful
denial of food.
(a) Think we have
been "spent" for the
Lord!!
(b) Next eight things
show us how grace
reacts.
IV. 2CORINTHIANS 6:6-7
A. Definitions:
1. Purity = "chastity"
2. Knowledge = "meek"
of choice.
3. Longsuffering =
"tenderheartedness with
difficult people".
4. Kindness = not to be
“crusty”!
5. The Holy Spirit =
without we could stand in
any trials!
6. Unfeigned love =
unconditional"
7 Word of truth = the
greatest defense
8. Armor of
righteousness =
remaining pure!!
B. Remaining nine, = to
keep our "vision".
V. 2CORINTHIANS 6:8-10
A. Definitions:
1. Honor and dishonor
= Life full of ups and
downs.
2. Evil and good report
= one loves, the
other hates you!!
3. Deceivers, yet true =
world thinks we are
deceiving ourselves!
4. Unknown, well known
= Michael W. Smith
known to the Christian!
5. Dying, yet alive = this
world is dying!!
6. Chastened = we're
down, but never
OUT!
7. Sorrowful yet
rejoicing = look what's
8. Poor = what we
possess money can't
buy!!
9. Having nothing = "My
dad owns everything!"
B. Trials can dissipate the
grace of the Lord!
1. Become inconsistent.
2. For some, grace a
covering for
compromise.
VI. 2CORINTHIANS 6:11-18
A. A call for separation from
the world!
1. People surrounded
a) Without separation
evil influences corrupt!
(1) Theme in the Old
Testament!
(a) Solomon turned
away - influence
of heathen
women.
(b) David with
Bathsheba.
(i) Christians a "light"
in the darkness!

VII. CONCLUSION
A. Questions we should ask
ourselves:
1. Things in my life
glorifying to the Lord?
2. Anything in my life
have appearance of
evil?
3. Something that is a
stumbling block to
another?
4. Does anything drag
me down?
5. Make me less than
my best?
6. Something I can ask
His blessing upon?
7. Does it help me to
see His face?
8. Is it something He
would do?
