How long does put up with people's sin? Even your sins and mine?
Today we are going to learn about what happens when God's patience runs out and people don't
turn to God for forgiveness.
Lot and his family by this time not only pitched their tent near two cities called Sodom and
Gomorrah (point to the two cities) but were living in one of them. We will find out in a minute how
bad the people were in these cities.
One day three men came to talk to Abraham and Lot and the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah

Two of the men were angels and one of them was God himself who came to talk to Abraham face
to face (The Angel of the Lord)
2. Draw in the word God in the title.
God said the sin and people in these cities was so bad he was going to destroy them with fire.
Because Abraham knew Lot, his wife, two daughters and their soon to be husbands were in those
cities, Lot pleaded with God to spare the city. (Read Genesis 18 and share the story with the kids)
God eventually said if there were 10 people in the city who cared about Him, he would spare the
city.
God left Abraham but the two angels went down into the city and met with Lot. (Share the
complete story in Genesis 19). Because it was late and Lot wanted these men (angels) to have a
safe place to stay the night, Lot invited them to his house.

3. Draw in Lot's house above the door.
The men in the city knew there were new guys in town and wanted to hurt them. That's how bad
the city was (you share what you want about this).
The men and younger boys came to the door and started to pound on the door (you can pound on
the sketch board) to let the men come outside. Lot and his family was afraid.
The angel came to the door and in the power God gave him made all the people blind so they
could escape.
4. Draw in the angel at the door while you are talking. You can actually draw in the angel at the
door in candle to make him appear without having Lot at the door in front of him as it is in the
drawing.
5. Draw the flashes of light and the word blindness blinding the people by the door.
The angels then told Lot to get his family out of the city because God was going to judge the city.
Only Lot, his wife and their two daughters believed in God's judgement and ran out of the city.
Lot's daughters fiancée did not believe and stayed back. (Preach about believing or not believing
in a God who will judge sinners)

7. Draw in the word salt on the pillar of salt on the road.
Lot's family escaped but then came God's judgement. Explain the judgement of God on the city
and what is was.
8. Draw in the fire coming from the sky destroying the cities.
Everyone in the city was destroyed. This is very serious! What does this teach us today?
9. Fill in the title: "God judges sin"
Talk about sin, what it is and the consequences of it: Romans 6:23
Why is this important? Sodom and Gomorrah God says is an example what he will do to the
ungodly (Jude 7)
10. Write in the word example
Goal: God's right as Creator to judge sin and sinners. Hopefully this will cause repentant hearts in
preparation for the next lesson.
