Job Description

Web Developer

Reports to: Manager of Marketing



General Summary

The Web Developer is a member of the marketing department and will be responsible for

developing innovative, reusable website templates and tools for our clients as well as

current internal COACT initiatives. The Web Developer will work closely with the Manager

of Marketing and graphic designers to develop specifications and make recommendations

on the use of new and emerging technologies. Programming and database administration

are elements of this position with graphic design capabilities a plus.



The Web Developer will be organized and detail-oriented with a strong sense of

responsibility. The website developer will do this effectively and efficiently for our clients

and internal business growth projects while managing multiple tasks and projects. This

person should also have excellent verbal and organizational skills, be self-motivated,

innovative and detailed-oriented.



Principal Duties and Responsibilities (include the following. Other duties may be assigned

as required).

 Consults regularly with Manager of Marketing regarding web development elements

of client’s business growth projects.

 Understand and use branding guidelines to create internal/external company web

pages including graphics, animation and functionality.

 Ability to conceptualize and design flash projects including banners, landing pages,

animated presentations, etc.

 Perform front-end development and maintenance programming for web pages and

web applications as needed.

 Enhance and revise existing website experiences, technology and online marketing

to ensure consistency of both the COACT brand as well as our clients.

 When required, provide technical or design expertise helping evaluate new

technologies to improve processes and productivity.

 Help with design and creation of web page layouts, user interface graphics, icons,

color schemes, content, and supporting infrastructure.

 Ensure all designs have appealing and consistent user interface that fulfills all brand

and other requirements.

 Support web usability testing (UAT) and create materials for testing as required.

 Collaborate with other designers in brainstorming and conceptual design, as well as

provide support for design deliverables as needed.

 Jointly develop, monitor and oversee the implementation of offline and online web

development elements, in conjunction with the Manager of Marketing.

 Maintaining current company-wide Intranet and future extranet capabilities with

the ability to customize SharePoint and/or SalesForce as needed a huge plus but not

required.

 Candidate must be a team player and willing to teach and to learn.



Required Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

 Superior knowledge of current web-design trends and techniques; a strong online

portfolio displaying user-centric design; and experience with web database

solutions a plus.

 Knowledge of capabilities and limitations of web technologies such as HTML,

DHTML, JavaScript and CSS.

 Cross-platform knowledge and experience in design and coding for online

communications (email rendering, IE, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, etc.).

 Design skills using Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator

and Flash.

 Knowledge of user interface design processes and methodology, particularly as

applied to web-based applications. Mobile knowledge is a plus.

 Solid understanding of user experience principles and how to effectively

incorporate them into page designs.

 History of successfully implementing business requirements with design elements

 Highly developed planning, organizing, and time management skills with attention

to detail, quality, and timeliness.

 Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work well in a fast-

paced environment.

 Ability to take art direction and constructive criticism, and manage personal time

outlays for each project.

 Good interpersonal and communication skills.



Education and Experience Requirements:

This position requires a bachelor’s degree in web design, information technology or related

field, or minimum of 2 years related interactive design experience.
