highly detrimental to satisfactory progress in this course. The participation grade is a subjective
teacher-determined grade based on student performance and contributions to the progress of the
class. .
SPANISH IN THE CLASSROOM: The goal of students in a foreign language class is to develop
proficiency in the target language. To reach that goal teachers and students should use the language of
study at every opportunity. Lack of voluntary language production will be reflected in grades.
EXTRA CREDIT: occasionally one or two points may be offered to an entire class on an exam, but
individuals will not be allowed extra credit to raise his/her grade.
LATE WORK: At teacher’s discretion, late work may be accepted the day after the due date for 65%
credit. Late major work will be accepted only if prior arrangements have been made with the teacher
and a valid reason has been given, proven and approved. Homework not finished when class begins
will receive a zero. Work missed during an unexcused absence receives a zero. Work should be
investigated and handed in before an anticipated absence.
CLASS EXPECTATIONS:
Be prepared and positive.
Participate in class to the best of your ability.
Show consideration and respect to all.
Promote a positive environment in class and be part of the reason a lesson is a success.
Leave apathy and negativity outside the door.
RECYCLE!
CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT: Discipline will follow procedure as outlined in the Student
Handbook.
TARDY POLICY: The tardy procedure outlined in the Student Handbook will be followed. A
student who is not seated and ready to begin class by the designated time (when the music stops) is
tardy. A student with an unexcused tardy will not be allowed to receive full credit for any class work
or quiz done while the student is out of class. Students without all required classroom materials will be
marked tardy if allowed to leave class for retrieval.
MAKE UP POLICY: Making up work is the responsibility of the student, not the teacher and must be
completed and turned in as stated above (see LATE WORK). Each student is required to have three
study buddies in class with whom s/he can and will communicate with during an absence to keep
abreast of notes and assignments.
ASSIGNMENTS: All assignments will be posted daily on the class “Homework board” and on the St.
Andrew’s Website.
GUM: No gum chewing is allowed during class. It interferes with correct pronunciation.
I, the undersigned, have read and agree to support the above stated guidelines.
