Repeat Dialing

Repeat Dialing permits the End User to have calls automatically redialed when the

first attempt reaches a busy signal. The line is checked every 45 seconds for up to

30 minutes, and alerts the EU with a distinctive ringing pattern when the busy

number and the EU's line are free. The EU can continue to make and receive calls

while the feature is activated.

Availability

 Available statewide in all switch types

 Available on single line ISDN

 Service may be used as Subscription (unlimited use) or Usage Sensitive (Pay-

per-use) basis.

Repeat Dialing Usage Sensitive (Pay Per Use) is available region-wide in all switch

types. It is automatically provisioned in all Customer Local Area Switching Services

(CLASS)-capable switches within California and Nevada.

Repeat Dialing Usage Sensitive (Pay Per Use) can be provisioned on/to all Basic

Exchange lines including:

 Series Completion

 Multi-line Hunt Groups (MLHG)

Note: MLHG are able to order Subscription features. All lines must be equipped the

same.

Restrictions/Limitations

An end user may have up to 10 repeat dialing calls activated at the same time.

Pay Per Use features are not available to the following types of service:

 Trunks, including Off Premise Extensions

 Commstar I & II

 Centrex / Centrex ISDN

 900/976 services

 Data Access lines

 Custom 8

 Coin/coinless/ Payphone Service Provider (PSP)

 800/WATS

 Custom Data

 ISDN (except Single Line ISDN)

 PBX

 Direct connect

 Multi-party line

 Hotel/motel

 Wide Area Telecommunications Service (WATS)/ Universal WATS Access

Line (UWAL)

Activation

To activate Repeat Dialing, the EU:

 After making a call, hangs up the phone

 Then, picks up the phone and listens for a dial tone

 Dials *66 ('1166' for users with rotary service)

 Then hears either ringing, a recording saying the number is busy, or a

recording saying the call can't be redialed.

 If a busy announcement is heard, the EU hangs up. Repeat Dialing will

keep trying the number for up to 30 minutes. If the busy number or

the EU's number are unavailable after 30 minutes, Repeat Dialing

shuts itself off.

 If the recalled number is busy, Repeat Dialing will keep trying that

number for up to 30 minutes and, when it's free, will notify the Repeat

Dialing EU with a special ring (short, short, long) that the recalled

number is now available. When the EU picks up the phone, the number

being called will ring, and the call will be completed automatically.

 If the Repeat Dialing EU does not pick up the phone, the special ring

will sound every 5 minutes, providing the line is free, for the duration

of that 30 minutes interval.

 When both the called number and the EU's number are free, Repeat

Dialing will signal with a special ring

To turn off Repeat Dialing, the EU:

 Picks up the phone and listens for a dial tone.

 Presses *86 ('1186' for rotary dial users). A recorded message will

confirm that Repeat Dialing request has been canceled.

Prompted Repeat Dialing

Is an enhancement to Repeat Dialing service to DMS100 switches where technically

feasible. End users will not hear a busy signal when the called number is buys. An

announcement will offer the choice to invoke Repeat Dialing by pressing ‘3’.

Availability

Available on DMS100 and 5E switches:

 Feature is automatically provisioned in all CLASS capable switches within

California.

 In Nevada, available on selected DMS100 switches:

 Bridgewood and remotes

 Lymbery and Pahrump

 Winnemucca

Restrictions/Limitations

 Not recommended for lines with a dedicated FAX or modem

 Lines identified as TTY will have a Prompted Repeat Dialing blocked as the

default.

 Additional restrictions include those above for Repeat Dialing.

Blocking With Repeat Dialing Usage Sensitive (Pay Per Use)

AT&T will block Repeat Dialing Usage Sensitive unless notified by the CLEC-Reseller

to unblock the features. The service charge for unblocking usage sensitive features

on a Residence or Business line are not charged if the unblocking is requested at the

time the CLEC-Reseller orders one or more Resale Custom Calling features on a

subscription basis.

Note: The CLEC-Reseller must unblock Repeat Dialing on an EU-specified basis per

line.

A monthly cap of 8 activations is applied to Residence lines only. There is no monthly

cap for Business service.
