U.S. Small Business Growth and Immigration a Successful Combination
13% of U.S. Population Own 18% of Small Businesses
Foreign-born persons (immigrants) make up only 13% of the total U.S. population, but 18% of all U.S. small businesses (approximately 900,000 of total 4.9 million) are owned by them. Those same businesses account for 15% (or $63 billion) of U.S. Small Business annual earned income.
Immigrant Owned Businesses Create Jobs
Over half (57%) of immigrant owned small businesses employ at least one employee, and of those businesses that have at least one employee the average number of employees is 11.
